Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #1668

Wednesday 2027-05-26

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed adventurer, back from the dazzling, delicious streets of Rome! It’s been a week of romance, gelato, and gorgeous Italian fashion - oh, and tutus, naturally. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Rome Calling

This week’s adventures kicked off in Derbyshire, where I squeezed in a quick ballet performance (who can resist the thrill of a fundraising show, right?) before catching the Eurostar, my trusty steed, to the Italian capital. The journey, as always, was pure joy. It's like a moving ballet show in itself, with scenery rushing past the windows, and fellow travellers - so much style inspiration! I do love a train ride.

Fashion Frenzy

Landing in Rome felt like stepping onto a fairytale film set. I, of course, brought my trusty pink tutu with me (this one’s a little more sophisticated, adorned with shimmering sequined hearts). After a whirlwind check-in at a charming little hotel in Trastevere, we set off on a fashion escapade!

Rome, darling, is a shopper's paradise. I lost myself in the colourful chaos of the Via del Corso. A sea of Italian silk, intricate leather bags, and – joy of joys – the most beautiful vintage boutiques! I snagged the most adorable vintage lace bolero, and, naturally, a pink, silk scarf for a dash of colour.

But hold onto your tutus, dear readers, the best was yet to come. Later that evening, we headed for the magical Piazza Navona, where we were treated to the most wonderful street ballet performance. Imagine, vibrant street lamps, a lively band, and a troupe of incredibly talented dancers weaving their magic in the square. I had a twirl attack and felt myself yearning for a tutu-filled night myself.

A Delicious Delight

The next day was a symphony of Italian flavours! We spent the morning at the Campo de' Fiori market, our senses overwhelmed with the colours and smells of fresh produce. We piled our baskets with juicy red strawberries, creamy mozzarella, and enough artisan bread to feed a small village (the Italians sure do know their bread, darlings!).

In the evening, we indulged in a traditional Roman dinner – pasta, pizzas, and a bottle of delectable Chianti wine. The entire meal was an experience for all senses! Don't forget, you cannot leave Italy without a serving of Gelato. Mine was, of course, strawberry and cream. I simply cannot resist a pink ice cream.

Cultural Immersions

Now, this week’s cultural highlight was our visit to the Pantheon. It was breathtaking, the perfect blend of history, architecture, and quiet awe. And to top it all off, there were little cafes perched right on the edges, perfect for people-watching and enjoying an authentic Italian espresso.

Rome, darlings, is a place of contradictions, an incredible blend of ancient and modern. We also walked around the Forum and Colosseum, feeling like we'd been transported back in time. My pink tutu even seemed to fit right in amidst the ancient ruins.

Ballet in Rome

Every good travel adventure includes a little ballet, right? On Thursday evening, we went to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, a stunning venue, to watch “The Sleeping Beauty.” It was enchanting – the music, the costumes, and of course, the dancing. And let me tell you, the ballerinas were graceful and strong – just what inspires my tutu-wearing self.

My Pink Tutu Moment

Speaking of tutus, imagine my joy when, during a quiet morning walk, I came across the most charming little boutique dedicated to… drumroll tutus! They were everywhere – in every shape, colour, and size, from vibrant reds to glittery golds. The owner, a sweet lady called Lucia, told me she’d been making tutus for generations. I bought myself a gorgeous navy tutu, adorned with pearls, a little something to wear to our last Roman evening.

My Rome Musings

Rome is truly a magical city. It's bursting with life, passion, history, and culture. The architecture, the food, the music, and the friendly people - it’s just infectious! And the most important thing? My pink tutu felt absolutely at home, spinning in the Roman air.

But there's a bit of a surprise for you, my dear readers! I’ll be posting another post next week on a very special adventure in the Amalfi Coast, with beautiful coastal scenery, lemon groves, and, you guessed it, more pink tutus!

Stay tuned, darlings. You won’t want to miss a single spin. And always, remember to wear your pink tutu with confidence, it makes everything a little more magical.

Ciao bella! Emma www.pink-tutu.com
