Pink Tutu Rome: #1669 - La Dolce Vita with a Tutu Twist!

Ciao, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, and I'm bursting with excitement to share all the fabulousness that Rome has thrown at me this week! I'm kicking off my #PinkTutuRome adventure, and it's safe to say this city is positively oozing with romantic charm and fashion inspiration. I feel like I've stepped into a Fellini film - and believe me, my tutu has already made quite a splash in the Eternal City!

Now, let's rewind a bit. You know I love to travel by train, so my journey from Derbyshire started with a magical whistle stop across Europe. A delicious cheese sandwich from the cafe carriage, a cuppa with my fave pink travel mug, and a peek into the gorgeous passing landscapes, it was pure magic! I even spotted a fellow tutu enthusiast – a little girl with a sparkly lavender tutu prancing in the carriage! She gave me the biggest grin, and I swear her twinkle eyes were practically shouting, "You're my kinda girl, Miss Tutu!" My heart melted, because there's just something about a pink tutu that makes everyone happy, don't you think?

*Rome, oh Rome… *

Arriving in the bustling heart of Rome felt like stepping into a living, breathing canvas of ancient wonders and modern life. I swear I could almost hear the echoes of the Roman Empire whispering stories through the centuries! The scent of freshly baked bread, the melodious strains of street musicians, the vibrant colours of the cobblestone streets – it all felt incredibly dramatic and charming. I think I might have giggled in delight more than a few times, and who can blame me, eh? This city is utterly captivating!

Pink Perfection: A Roman Wardrobe

You all know I live and breathe for clothes, so I couldn’t resist heading straight to some of Rome's chic boutiques. I’m a big believer in statement pieces that express your individuality, and you can definitely find that here! From bold, vibrant silk scarves to beautiful handmade leather bags, it was all about embracing that 'la dolce vita' feeling – a little bit glamorous, a little bit edgy, but totally timeless! I found a beautiful blush pink satin clutch adorned with a silver clasp that was calling my name – it'll be the perfect accessory to my pink tulle for evening cocktails at a chic Italian trattoria.

Ballet & Beyond: An Ode to the Arts

But I wasn’t here just for fashion, darling. Ballet calls to me, and Rome boasts some truly breathtaking performances! On Tuesday (yes, I'm a firm believer in ballet for all days!), I went to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. You'd be forgiven for thinking you'd stepped into a Renaissance palace with its opulent decorations and dramatic interiors. I was mesmerized by a passionate performance of “La Traviata,” every note and every pirouette was a captivating piece of art. It was simply divine, and made me wish I could twirl the night away!

Of Course There Were Tutus

Of course, a pink tutu wouldn't be a pink tutu without a sprinkle of unexpected fun! Rome is all about experiencing the city’s rich culture. So, I took a leisurely stroll to the Colosseum. Imagine my delight when I encountered a charming group of street performers recreating a Roman battle. The gladiator costumes, the sound of clanging swords, it was totally thrilling! You know what came next, don't you? This pink tutu donned the Colosseum and created quite a spectacle, even more so when the lead gladiator winked and I took a curtsey with a playful flick of my tulle!

A Roman Daydream: Eating & Sipping

I'm living for the simple pleasures – the taste of delicious Italian espresso, the crunch of a perfectly baked pastry, the feeling of the sun warming my skin as I wander through the cobbled alleyways!

My first pizza in Rome, my darling, was something else! Forget soggy base, this was a perfectly crispy crust, with a symphony of fresh ingredients – mozzarella, basil, prosciutto. Heavenly.

But there's a twist – afterward, I stumbled upon the most adorable street-side gelato cart! I had to try a scoop of strawberry sorbet – perfectly sweet and tart, just the way I like it.

My Favourite View

Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a climb up the iconic Spanish Steps. Those breathtaking views over the city were worth every step – just be careful about that fabulous high heel shoe of yours! This city, its beauty, its vibrance – it's truly enchanting. And I've hardly scratched the surface of all that Rome has to offer. I have so much more to share next week – more delicious food, captivating performances, and of course, my fabulous pink tutu adventures! So, keep those pink tutus at the ready! We're going on a Roman adventure together! Ciao, ciao!
