Welcome to Pink Tutu Rome, my lovely lot! It's Wednesday, the 30th of June 2027, and I'm back with you, Emma, your tutu-wearing travel buddy, bringing you another dose of sunshine from the glorious city of Rome.
This is blog post number 1673, folks, can you believe it? Six years and counting of sharing my love for pink, tutus, ballet and exploring the world with you. Every week, come rain or shine (and thankfully, today it's sunshine), I'm here, ready to whisk you away to another destination with my favourite tutu. Today, that destination is the heart of Italy – Rome, the Eternal City, with its cobbled streets, delicious food and incredible history.
Rome: A Tutu-tiful Adventure Begins
The journey here was as delightful as always. There's just something about the anticipation of a new adventure and the rhythmic click-clack of the train as it races towards your destination. This time, I travelled in style, of course, with my trusty pink suitcase overflowing with tutus and the most vibrant summer wardrobe imaginable. This time, the palette is decidedly Italian - fiery reds, sunny yellows, and deep greens, all inspired by the breathtaking scenery of this amazing country.
My trip started, as always, with a visit to the most important destination for any true fashionista: Via Condotti. I'm talking the chicest designer shops, each vying for attention with displays that could rival a ballet performance. Every storefront felt like a stage, and my shopping bag became my dance bag – filled with the spoils of this glamorous war on fashion! My favourite purchase so far? A beautiful pink cashmere scarf from Prada. You just can't go to Rome without picking up a souvenir for your wardrobe!
Rome: Ballet in the Piazza
You wouldn't believe it, but even Rome has its own ballerina community! This evening, I am excited to see a performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, one of the most celebrated opera houses in the world. I'm particularly excited to see a rendition of La Traviata. I always find that there's a certain romance about opera and ballet, a sense of elegance that feels like a perfect fit for Rome. Imagine the incredible backdrop of this beautiful city, paired with the soaring voices of the opera singers and the grace of the dancers - it's a ballet enthusiast's dream!
Of course, a good ballet performance always puts me in the mood to twirl! Tomorrow, I'm heading to Piazza Navona to check out a little local dance group performing in the heart of the city. Their style is more street dance than ballet, but I love how they incorporate elements of traditional Italian dance into their routines, all whilst showcasing their incredible skills. This is what I love about travelling – experiencing new cultures and finding little pockets of artistry, no matter how unconventional they may be.
Rome: Food, Fashion & The Art of Tutu-ing
You know me - I can't possibly be in Rome without savouring its delectable cuisine! This morning, I indulged in a cornetto (a croissant, but infinitely tastier) with a caffè - just the thing to start the day. In the evening, I'll be indulging in some classic Roman dishes, like spaghetti alla carbonara and pasta cacio e pepe. There's just something about fresh, simple ingredients and a dash of Italian magic that makes each dish an absolute delight.
While we're on the subject of magic, let's talk about my little pink tutu mission! It wouldn't be a trip to Rome without a bit of sartorial creativity. Tomorrow, I'm planning to do a photo shoot with the Roman Forum in the backdrop - a tutu, of course, is the only suitable attire. After all, isn't everyone secretly a ballerina at heart?
