Pink Tutu Rome - #1686

Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I'm whisking you away to the Eternal City, Rome, Italy. Oh my gosh, darling, Rome has simply stolen my heart. It's brimming with romance, culture, and even the odd chariot or two (just kidding…or am I?) ?. I've been touring the ancient ruins, marveling at the beautiful Renaissance art, and, of course, indulging in some heavenly gelato (I think I've tried every flavour!).

A Dream in Pink (and Tutu)

Rome is like stepping straight into a fairytale! It's a city steeped in history and bursting with charm. I love the vibrant colours, the cobblestone streets, and the stunning architecture. But let's talk fashion!

The Italians are fashionistas through and through. They take pride in their appearance and ooze an effortless elegance. I felt right at home here, especially after grabbing myself a gorgeous pair of gladiator sandals (just had to add a little sparkle, obvs!) that look perfectly fabulous with my favourite pink tutu. Honestly, Rome feels like the perfect place for a tutu-wearing ballerina like myself! I mean, imagine dancing through the ancient Colosseum, twirling amongst the ruins! I might even have a flash mob in mind...

Onwards to the Opera (and a Touch of Fashion)

This week, my lovely followers, I saw an amazing performance of La Traviata at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. I literally had tears in my eyes during the final aria! It was truly beautiful, and the costumes were just exquisite, reminding me of the glorious, flowing fabrics we dancers use for our tutus. The sheer artistry was breathtaking. And speaking of beauty...

After the opera, I ventured into one of the designer boutiques on Via Condotti. This street is practically a dream come true for any fashionista! There were so many beautiful pieces of clothing, shoes, and accessories, each one more stunning than the last. I even spotted a little vintage Valentino shop that felt straight out of a movie set. (Anyone who knows me, knows I have a massive weakness for Valentino's designs!)

My Top Tips for Visiting Rome:

  • Embrace the Italian spirit: Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with the locals. The Romans are warm, friendly, and love to share stories.
  • Don't miss out on the Pantheon: It's a beautiful structure with an amazing history.
  • Enjoy a gelato: I know I keep saying it, but there's nothing like a scoop (or two!) of freshly-made gelato in Rome. My favourite flavour? Pistachio - heavenly!
  • Be prepared for a lot of walking: Rome is a city you need to explore on foot to truly appreciate its beauty. Wear comfy shoes! I would definitely recommend your favourite pair of ballerina flats - my trusty pair were perfect for navigating all the charming, cobblestone streets!
  • Get a picnic basket and visit the Villa Borghese Gardens: The gardens are a beautiful, relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a true gem!

Remembering Home in the Derbyshire Dales

As I'm writing this, I'm sitting in a cute little cafe overlooking the Roman Forum. It's a beautiful morning, the sun is shining, and I can almost hear the gentle lapping of the River Derwent in my hometown of Derbyshire, England. Although I love traveling and experiencing different cultures, I can't wait to get back home to my own little patch of the world, my ballet studio, and the warmth of my family and friends. But for now, I'm soaking up all the beauty that Rome has to offer!
