Ciao bella! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina, and this week I'm taking you on a whirlwind tour of Rome! After months of planning and many, many performances to fund this incredible trip, I'm finally here in the Eternal City, and oh my, is it magical!
As always, I'm ready for adventures in my signature pink tutu - this time, it's a dreamy tulle confection with a delicate pink floral print. You know me, gotta match the vibrant city vibes! And, to add to the drama, I'm sporting a gorgeous crimson silk top and shimmering silver ballet flats. Because every girl needs a touch of glamour when exploring such an historical place.
Rome feels like it stepped right out of a fairytale. We arrived yesterday by train, (because nothing beats a train journey through stunning countryside!), and were greeted by the aroma of espresso and fresh bread. Stepping off the station onto cobbled streets was like entering a different world. Everywhere you look, there are stunning buildings, ancient ruins, and bustling piazzas filled with laughter and gelato-lovers!
This morning we visited the Trevi Fountain, and let me tell you, it was even more breathtaking in person. Just like in the movies, everyone was tossing in coins to ensure they return to this magical city one day. I couldn't help myself – I tossed a little coin, and made a wish to return again for a ballet performance!
Speaking of ballet, oh my, this trip wouldn't be complete without visiting the Rome Opera House! This magnificent building is a cultural landmark, a treasure trove of artistic grandeur and historical significance. Imagine a theatre bursting with exquisite Italian craftsmanship, soaring ceilings and intricate decorations. Every corner was a masterpiece!
You guys, the ballet show was spectacular! "Swan Lake" with an Italian twist - imagine a shimmering lake recreated on stage, a romantic score that made the whole theatre come alive. I was so inspired, I almost leapt onto the stage!
Afterward, the true Italian adventure began! Shopping in the Roman markets was an experience I won't forget. Handcrafted leather goods, vibrant textiles, delicious spices and colourful fruits, and oh my goodness, so many fashion finds! I grabbed some fabulous accessories – a coral necklace to match my tutu, and a bright green bag with beautiful embroidery. It was the perfect way to blend in with the Italian fashion scene, wouldn't you agree?
And for a delicious ending, a late-night pizza under the Roman stars was exactly what I needed after a whirlwind day. The dough was thin and crisp, the cheese perfectly melted, and the sauce, oh the sauce, just pure flavour heaven!
Now, I have a big secret to share. We found the perfect spot to have a "ballet picnic" right by the Tiber River. Tomorrow we're going to bring sandwiches, prosecco (because why not?), and some classic ballet tunes. I can't wait to watch the sun setting over the Roman cityscape and share some laughter and a bit of graceful fun!
So, you know, my lovelies, if you ever get the chance to visit Rome, be sure to indulge your senses, take a break from your daily routines and just wander around, soaking it all in. This is a city that deserves to be savoured slowly.
But before I leave you, I just have one question – have you put on your pink tutu today? I hope you have, because remember, anything is possible with a little bit of twirl and a whole lot of pink!
Until next week,
Ciao bella! Emma xxx
