Hello darlings! This is your favourite pink-loving, tutu-twirling travel blogger, Emma, reporting live from the eternal city, Rome! I've finally made it to this majestic, ancient metropolis and, my dears, let me tell you, it's everything I ever dreamed of!
My journey began in Derbyshire, England, the home of quaint villages and rolling green hills (and frankly, not the best place to sport a pink tutu). However, I bid farewell to my cosy cottage and boarded the train to London, where the first flicker of Roman excitement started to take hold. I was headed to Rome by train, and you know me, darling, I've always been a huge fan of travelling on rails! The journey was a magical mix of cityscapes fading into countryside, punctuated by little moments of charm like enjoying a cup of English breakfast tea on the train with a book and a twirl (never a bad idea, you know).
My journey was also filled with a bit of pre-trip excitement. Imagine my delight when, whilst at the local newsagent, I spotted the perfect addition to my Roman wardrobe: a pair of stylish pink ballet shoes. The shade of pink? Divine! Of course, I knew these beauties would perfectly compliment my array of pink tutus – just what this Roman princess needs to complete her outfit, darling!
Now, fast-forward to my arrival in Rome. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful place, full of vibrant colours, intoxicating smells, and friendly faces everywhere I look. Oh, and did I mention the stunning architecture? My pink tutu just screams to be photographed against the ancient walls of the Colosseum, doesn’t it? I even spotted a street performer with a fantastic ballet-themed performance near the Trevi Fountain. His grace and fluidity reminded me why I love this form of expression so much!
What I've been up to: Exploring Ancient Wonders!
This week, I decided to explore the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. Let me tell you, my dear readers, these ancient ruins left me speechless! Imagine centuries of history, tales of emperors and gladiators, swirling in the air around you. It felt like stepping into another era! My imagination took flight as I visualized the bustling markets and parades that once graced these ancient paths. Of course, I twirled in front of the ruins and captured it all on my phone for posterity. Just picture a little pink tutu fluttering against the backdrop of the Colosseum. Oh, darling, how perfectly delightful!
From Ancient Sites to Contemporary Style
This weekend, I'm making my way to the charming Trastevere district. This neighbourhood has a reputation for its cobbled streets, vibrant cafes, and artisan workshops. It's the perfect spot to explore a more local and authentic side of Rome. Imagine finding hidden boutiques full of stylish clothing and maybe even finding that perfect souvenir or two (a new pink tutu, perhaps?). I am absolutely smitten with the energy this city radiates!
And if you're curious, today's outfit involves a ballet-inspired pink tulle skirt that twirls effortlessly, paired with a flowy white blouse for that quintessential Roman romance, completed, of course, with a dash of pink (a sparkling pink ribbon in my hair – simply divine!). My ballet slippers were a perfect compliment for my exploration. What's great about tutus is you can literally wear them for any occasion, darling! Just throw on a stylish top or jacket, and you’re ready for a night out or a day of exploring.
Tonight's Entertainment: Opera & Elegance
Now, I hear there's a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma this evening! And not just any performance, dear readers, but "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky! My love of ballet is, you know, the whole reason I get to be here, to experience these wonders, and to bring this magical journey to all of you. Oh, the romance! It’s pure magic, and you know I can't miss it. I have my fanciest tutu ready, my best pair of ballet flats, and a heart filled with anticipation! I just know this is going to be one of the most delightful evenings in Rome!
