Buongiorno, darlings!
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Travels, where we’re dancing our way through life, one pink tutu at a time. And guess what? This week, we’re bringing the twirls to the Eternal City – Rome!
I know, I know – it feels like I’ve been hinting at this one for ages, and for good reason. I've dreamt of dancing in Rome ever since I was a little ballerina, imagining myself twirling under the Colosseum, feeling the history in every step. Now, it's actually happening!
And wouldn't you know it, arriving on the 22nd of December? Christmas is just around the corner, so the city is ablaze with festive cheer! Think glittering Christmas trees, twinkling lights, and festive decorations – the kind of festive enchantment that would make even the grumpiest Scrooge grin!
The journey over was pure magic! Of course, I chose the train, because let's face it, who needs boring, grey airport terminals when you can travel through beautiful countryside, taking in stunning landscapes from a comfy carriage? This trip, however, felt extra special – the views whizzing past my window, the gentle sway of the train, it all felt like the opening act of an adventure I couldn't wait to experience.
Speaking of acts, I’m performing in my ballet shoes once again this weekend, at the glorious Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. The grand opera house is just breathtaking! Just picturing the grandeur of it all makes my heart flutter! Imagine swirling under a glittering chandelier, dancing amongst the most beautiful people in the city... I'm almost getting shivers just thinking about it!
But Rome isn't all about ballet (though let's be real, ballet is pretty darn great). Today, we explored the Piazza Navona, and let me tell you – it's absolutely incredible. The ornate fountains, the stunning architecture, and the vibrant atmosphere - it was all so overwhelming, I swear I felt like I'd been whisked back in time!
We finished the day off with the most delicious pasta dish I've ever had! My friends just wouldn't leave without taking me to the Antica Pizzeria da Michele. This restaurant has been around for centuries, and it's legendary for its authentic Neapolitan pizzas – talk about delicious history!
Tomorrow, we’re exploring the Vatican, Rome's most famous landmark – just picturing the Basilica di San Pietro and the Sistine Chapel makes me swoon. I've already imagined myself taking photos in the most elegant pink tutu, against the grandeur of the historical architecture – think Renaissance meets my signature pink-tutu flair. What's not to love?!
And wouldn’t you know it, my friend Francesca found a charming vintage shop in Trastevere called "Le Petit Papillon", filled with vintage tutus, just my style! Honestly, she’s the best shopping buddy!
Oh, and the fashion here in Rome is off the charts. People are so stylish – think vintage, effortlessly chic, and glamorous, all in one! And even the little kids have such great fashion sense - they're rocking mini pink tutus with so much confidence it’s actually inspiring. You can never be too young (or old) to embrace your inner ballerina!
You know what's truly incredible, though? Rome seems to embrace this spirit of carefree happiness. Everyone I've met so far is so welcoming and joyful! I can feel a new wave of inspiration brewing in my heart. Maybe it's the Italian food, maybe it’s the contagious energy, maybe it’s the history, but whatever it is, it’s truly making me feel… happy. And energized.
Of course, I'll keep you posted on every single delightful detail of my Italian adventure. Until then, be sure to subscribe to my blog, www.pink-tutu.com, to stay up to date on my pink-tutu-infused travels and everything that inspires me.
I’ll leave you with a little challenge, darlings: Share your favourite Italian food with me in the comments below!
Stay pink, beautiful people!
Emma xoxo
