#PinkTutuRome - Ciao Bella! ???

Post number 1750 | Wednesday 20th December 2028

Buongiorno from the Eternal City, my darlings! Rome has completely captured my heart, it's like stepping into a beautiful, timeless film set. It's even better than I imagined, and trust me, I had big dreams about this trip! I can't wait to tell you all about my adventures so far.

It feels like forever since I last stepped off a train and into a new, vibrant city. The journey was as enchanting as ever - I do love the romance of train travel. The Italian landscape is just stunning, like a patchwork quilt of olive groves, rolling hills and terracotta rooftops bathed in the golden sunshine. It truly inspires a creative spirit, and you know what that means… plenty of tutu twirls!

I've been lucky enough to be here for a fantastic few days already, and already ticked some major Roman highlights off the list. Yesterday, I strolled through the ancient Roman Forum, feeling like a ballerina in a history lesson. The Colosseum was breathtaking, I almost expected gladiators to appear amongst the crowds of tourists! I even managed to squeeze in a delicious pizza and a glass of chilled prosecco on a charming little terrace overlooking the Spanish Steps, which were as dazzlingly white as the froth on my cappuccino.

A Dress-Up Day at The Vatican

This morning, I awoke with a flutter of excitement as we prepared for a visit to The Vatican City! I knew I had to create a special outfit for this iconic destination and the outfit was a complete triumph. A crisp, powder-pink midi skirt with a delicate ruffled hem – just the perfect amount of twirl - paired with a pristine white silk top with a dramatic bow. I knew my blush-toned velvet shoes, embellished with glittering gold, would finish it off perfectly. Naturally, no outfit would be complete without my beloved pink tulle tutu, which, believe it or not, is now a travelling companion I wouldn’t be without. This tutu is my "everything-must-go-in" handbag and it never fails to get admiring glances everywhere I go. And, wouldn't you know it, Vatican City was the perfect place to put my tulle and twirl skills to the test! Imagine the sheer joy of pirouetting through the majestic Vatican Gardens, surrounded by ancient cypress trees and fragrant jasmine - pure magic.

After our breathtaking trip through the Vatican Museums and marveling at the artistry of the Sistine Chapel (I almost shed a tear at the beauty of it all), I did a spontaneous impromptu performance. I twirled around in the middle of the basilica, my pink tutu a joyful explosion of colour amidst the grandeur of the space. The people there stopped and stared, some even cheered. It felt like my performance was truly reaching their souls! Of course, I always ensure that my impromptu performances are respectful and bring a moment of joy, laughter and colour to the audience! After all, what is the point of being a tutu-wearing ballerina if not to spread the joy and spark a little magic?

Shopping for the Soul: Via Condotti

Speaking of joy and magic, I could not be in the Italian capital without indulging in a little retail therapy! Today, we wandered the charming streets of Rome, taking in the vibrant energy, the tempting aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting from every corner, and the irresistible allure of the shops and boutiques that line the streets. But the star of today’s trip was undoubtedly a stroll down Via Condotti, the mecca of luxury fashion. This is truly a fashionista's paradise, where a veritable wonderland of designer labels tempts from every doorway! From exquisite shoes to statement dresses, every creation is a work of art. The shops, bathed in golden sunlight, almost seemed to sparkle and beckon me in.

But I'm afraid, my dears, I held back. While I do have a penchant for a fabulous piece of fashion, my true love is a twirling, twirling tutu! That, and saving up to perform more shows, so I can continue travelling and bring you my little slice of Pink Tutu life!

Evening Lights and Ballet Inspiration

Later today, we’re off to explore the Trevi Fountain - the legend is, if you toss a coin over your shoulder into the water, you’ll return to Rome someday! Well, with all that pizza, prosecco, and sunshine I’m pretty sure I'm going to need to return. But I will, my loves, and you'll be the first to hear all about it on #PinkTutuRome!

Before my day concludes, I must share a truly extraordinary experience that's left me in awe! Tonight, we were lucky enough to snag tickets to see “Giselle,” a legendary ballet masterpiece at the Rome Opera House. My, how I love a classic! It was a truly mesmerizing evening; from the graceful costumes, the dramatic music, and the effortless skill of the ballerinas - every moment captivated me.

Every dance step was a journey into beauty, every pirouette an expression of emotions that transcended language, and every grand jeté a leap into a timeless and breathtaking realm. To be honest, my love of ballet has only intensified during my time in Italy. The passion, the elegance, the graceful story-telling – they are the very soul of this remarkable city!

My dears, it has been such a whirlwind of a week, and the adventures are only just beginning! This magical city, with its timeless charm and intoxicating energy, continues to inspire and uplift my spirit. But I have to admit, a piece of my heart is yearning for the familiarity and warmth of Derbyshire! The twirling will continue until I make it back to my favourite local spots - I'm counting down the days! But until then, stay tuned, as there's much more #PinkTutuRome goodness on the way. Until next Wednesday, ciao, darling! ?
