Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1775 - Dolce Vita & Dancing Dreams

Ciao, darling! It’s Emma here, back with another Wednesday post from your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller!

This week, we’re venturing into the heart of Italy, the magnificent city of Rome! This city has been calling to me for years - the ancient history, the incredible food, the fashion… it’s a dream come true to finally be here!

The journey down by train was, as always, a delight! Watching the countryside change as we flew past was mesmerising - the rolling hills, the vibrant vineyards, the quaint little towns all blending into one spectacular view. I of course, had to channel my inner Roman empress for the journey. Imagine: a flowing silk pink dress, a stunning beaded scarf, and of course, my trusty pink tutu, all paired with a fabulous straw hat adorned with pink ribbon - the perfect look for a grand entrance into the Eternal City!

And grand it was! Stepping off the train and into Rome's Termini Station was a whirlwind of sights, sounds and smells! The air was thick with the aroma of fresh bread and coffee, street vendors were selling colourful scarves and gelato, and the bustle of life filled every corner. My inner ballerina was doing a pirouette in delight!

After settling into my beautiful, floral-decorated Airbnb, nestled amidst the cobbled streets of Trastevere, it was time to dive straight into the city's heart! The first stop: the Colosseum.

Wow! Imagine standing where gladiators once battled and emperors reigned! Just looking at the imposing structure filled me with awe - a reminder of Rome’s glorious past and its incredible history. The energy was almost palpable, and the air hummed with the whispers of countless lives lived and lost. The storytellers were incredibly interesting and brought history to life!

Pink Tutu Tip: Remember to bring your best camera for the Colosseum - it truly is a sight to behold! And of course, I donned my trusty pink tutu for a few pictures, a reminder to bring the fun to every experience!

After exploring the Colosseum, I took a stroll through the Forum. It felt like stepping back in time - the ruins were majestic, and I could imagine the hustle and bustle of life here centuries ago. The history was palpable and the views simply breathtaking.

Feeling the weight of centuries upon me, a little shopping was definitely in order! A trip to Rome would be incomplete without a browse in the fashion district! And you won’t be surprised to hear that I couldn't leave without a new pink piece to add to my collection! The boutiques here have the most amazing selections of silks, chiffons, and delicate lace, each one perfect for my next ballet performance! I have a vision of a pink dress, cascading down to my feet, adorned with delicate pink sequins and finished with a tulle train. The colour! The movement! Oh, darling, this will be one dazzling act!

A tiring but fulfilling day called for some traditional Italian indulgence, and let me tell you, Rome does food right! Pizza at a charming outdoor trattoria was my perfect dinner - it was truly divine, and the taste of fresh mozzarella, tangy tomatoes, and basil danced on my tastebuds like a perfectly executed pirouette.

Pink Tutu Tip: Don't be afraid to experiment with your meals. The flavours are rich, unique and unforgettable. And for a truly Italian experience, don't skip the tiramisu - heaven on a spoon!

After dinner, the streets beckoned, full of charming cafes, enchanting alleyways, and an electric atmosphere that simply could not be resisted.

Rome is buzzing with energy, a beautiful mix of the ancient and modern, the traditional and the experimental. This vibrant city reflects a genuine love for art and life. You could hear it in the laughter spilling out of the cafes, the melodies emanating from the street musicians, and the passion expressed by the local artists! The spirit of the city was captivating and infectious!

On this trip, I couldn't miss out on an opera night, something that's been on my list for ages! The opera was breathtaking! The music soared, the voices resonated with such powerful emotion, the sets were lavish and theatrical, and I felt transported to another world altogether.

Pink Tutu Tip: Do some research and choose a performance that fits your preferences - there are incredible productions on offer in Rome. My favourite? “La Traviata” – truly a poignant story of love and loss set against a backdrop of Italian drama and stunning musical compositions.

The week culminated with an exhilarating ballet class - ballet, as always, makes everything better! The studio was located right in the heart of Rome, hidden in a small alleyway full of enchanting blooms. A beautiful, well-maintained space full of light and vibrant energy, with friendly dancers and passionate instructors. The joy of the movement, the flow of music, the energy of the space all combined into one perfect ballet experience!

And just like that, my week in Rome is over. This city truly captivated me. It was a symphony of colours, sights, sounds, and experiences - truly the heart of Italy!

Of course, no trip is complete without my thoughts for the future - the world of pink tutus needs to reach Rome! It is a city pulsating with passion, culture, and creativity - just waiting to embrace the vibrant colour and delightful fun of the tutu.

And so, I leave you with this promise, darling: my quest to spread the joy of the pink tutu around the world continues! My journey doesn’t end here - stay tuned, and you might find your next city on my Pink Tutu travel list!

Until next week,

Emma x
