Buongiorno from Rome, darlings! The air is thick with the scent of jasmine and the sunshine is practically vibrating, and so am I, for I'm here in the Eternal City, the home of emperors, gladiators, and, of course, the most stunning architecture imaginable. This week on Pink Tutu Rome, we're stepping out of the theatre and into the heart of Italy, where history whispers around every corner and beauty blossoms from every cobbled street.
The Train to Triumph!
After my dazzling performance in Milan last weekend (yes, a flawless rendition of the Black Swan!), I grabbed my trusty pink tutu, my most fabulous pink handbag (a new acquisition, with little pearl detailing, you just have to see it!), and I hopped aboard a gloriously red Italian train. Now, don't get me wrong, travelling by train is always an adventure for a tutu-wearing girl, but something about the scenery whizzing past as we traversed the Italian countryside, was truly breathtaking. I couldn't resist whipping out my camera and documenting the rolling hills, quaint villages, and oh-so-cute farmhouses adorned with vines. (Picture the perfect setting for a fairytale! Oh, to dance among those vineyards, under a canopy of golden light.)
Roman Rhapsody
And then, bam! Rome, in all her glory, unfolded before us, the magnificent Colosseum a beacon in the sun, its stone weathered yet regal, standing as a testament to the strength of this glorious city. From the train window, it looked like it was whispering secrets of ancient battles and grand celebrations, sending shivers down my spine!
A Pink Tutu Tour de Force
Arriving in the bustling heart of the city, I did what any true fashionista would do - went straight for the shopping! First stop was a little boutique hidden down a side street – it's called "La Bella Rosa" which, quite literally translates to "the beautiful rose." It's a beautiful little place overflowing with all the most exquisite silk scarves and Italian leather goods. Imagine a ballerina's dream, and then add some divine pink shades - you've got La Bella Rosa! I came out with a silk scarf that reminded me of the roses that grow in my dear Grandma's garden, the perfect accessory for an evening stroll through the romantic alleyways.
Trevi Fountain Dreams
The day just kept getting better! We then headed to the Trevi Fountain - just think, for centuries people have tossed coins into those glistening waters for good luck. So, I took out a shimmering gold coin (with a rose engraved on it, naturally!) and whispered my wish - for every dancer in the world to own a pink tutu, wouldn't that be magical? I truly believe in the power of wishes and, of course, I knew the best way to guarantee its fulfillment was by twirling once, twice, three times before I tossed that little gold token into the fountain. A dramatic flourish and a swoon-worthy twirl later, my wish was well on its way!
La Dolce Vita & Delicious Dining
I have to admit, the aroma of fresh pasta and espresso swirling in the air is almost enough to tempt even a ballet-loving soul to forget their dance routine! But no fear, my darling tutu-wearing readers, I haven’t completely forsaken my dance practice! The evening found us dining al fresco in a little trattoria that was overflowing with laughter and the joyous sounds of family enjoying delicious, traditional Italian dishes. I, of course, indulged in some of the most incredible homemade pasta, perfectly paired with a glass of local wine. I wouldn't dare not taste a slice of their heavenly tiramisu either – a ballet dancer needs her carbs, and let's be honest, who can resist that melt-in-your-mouth heaven!
On a Personal Note
So much happens when you travel, don't you think? New places, new experiences, all adding to the richness of your life, making your soul bloom brighter and your heart beat faster. That's what travelling does. You've got to let it unfold, and allow the energy of a new place to wash over you.
You might be thinking, how does she manage to do all of this? Travel the world, dance, shop and, oh yes, live life to the fullest in that iconic pink tutu. It’s quite simple, really. I channel my love for dancing into my travel blog - it’s how I get to share the joy of experiencing the world in my unique way! Every show I do, every performance, takes me one step closer to my dream, and allows me to continue to bring a bit of ‘Pink Tutu’ magic to all the corners of the world!
And remember, it doesn’t take a stage to be a ballerina. You don’t have to have an audience to unleash your inner sparkle. So, don’t wait! Grab your favourite tutu, put on some music and let your heart soar with each twirl.
Don’t forget to check back next Wednesday for another dose of pink-tastic inspiration, straight from the heart of Rome! Until then, remember – ‘The world is your stage!’
Pinkly yours, Emma
