Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1803 – Boxing Day Bliss in the Eternal City!

Ciao Bella!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means? Time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I'm writing to you from the most magical city in the world - Rome, Italy! ?? After a thrilling train journey from Derbyshire (the journey was part of the fun, trust me!), I'm absolutely smitten with the vibrant energy, ancient architecture, and of course, the fabulous fashion!

It's Boxing Day here in Rome, and the city is buzzing with festive cheer. I'm currently perched at a charming cafe in Piazza Navona, my pink tutu swishing delightfully as I sip a delicious cappuccino and people-watch. There's such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, and the air is filled with the joyous sounds of Christmas carols – they're even playing them in the shops! It’s all so incredibly enchanting!

Rome: A Ballet Lover’s Dream!

As you know, I'm a dedicated ballerina, and let me tell you, Rome is a ballet lover's paradise. My arrival here was perfectly timed to see the Christmas Ballet performance at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma – the Teatro Costanzi. Imagine, a grand, gilded opera house with a breathtaking performance of The Nutcracker! The costumes were magnificent, the dancing exquisite, and the energy in the room was absolutely electrifying.

It was a beautiful way to start my Italian adventure, and I even had the pleasure of meeting the lovely prima ballerina. I, of course, had to share a bit about the mission of Pink Tutu – encouraging everyone to embrace the joy and freedom of wearing pink tutus – she found it absolutely delightful! Maybe I'll inspire a whole new ballet company to dance in tutus... Pink, of course!

Shopping Splendour and a Little Tutu Trouble

Rome is also a shopaholic's dream! The cobblestone streets are lined with adorable boutiques and shops bursting with Italian elegance. I spent yesterday afternoon wandering through the vintage stores near the Pantheon, finding some amazing pieces - a beautiful, vintage pink dress for a fraction of its original price and a delicate pearl necklace to go with my pink tutu.

However, it seems like a delicate pink tulle skirt is no match for the cobblestones of Rome. After a bit too much enthusiasm for my impromptu twirls, I had a slight wardrobe malfunction. The back of my skirt split! Don't worry, a quick visit to a talented tailor saved the day.

My Fashion Tip: Never venture onto cobbled streets without a sturdy pair of ballet shoes. ?

Pasta, Pizza and Pink!

Rome is truly a food paradise, with endless options for pasta, pizza and gelato! This city knows how to indulge! Of course, my favourite place to enjoy my meal is on a sun-drenched terrace with a stunning view of the Roman Forum. My current obsession is their delicious spaghetti alla gricia – it’s perfectly simple and simply perfect! And gelato… oh my goodness, the gelato! I’ve had several scoops (you wouldn't blame me!) – the flavors here are so divine. Strawberry with whipped cream is my current go-to, because, of course, everything needs a hint of pink!

Roman Adventure Time!

Now that I've sufficiently fueled myself with delicious pasta and gelato, it’s time to explore! My to-do list is quite full – the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City... I can’t wait to be swept up in the historical majesty of Rome. The incredible energy of this city, with all its ancient wonders and vibrant modern life, truly makes it feel like the centre of the world.
