Aberdeen Adventures: A Tutu and a Train, What More Could a Girl Ask For?
Post Number 539
Hello darlings! It's your girl Emma here, writing to you from the most delightful corner of the world - Aberdeen!
As a girl who lives and breathes for ballet, a trip to Aberdeen has been on my "must-visit" list for years. You see, Aberdeen, or "The Granite City," as it's fondly known, has a stunningly rich history with ballet, boasting the world's oldest professional ballet company - Scottish Ballet!
And what better way to make the trip than via train? There's nothing quite as magical as travelling in style and soaking in the beautiful scenery whizzing by, my pink tutu swirling gracefully behind me, of course. Let's be honest, I'm pretty sure I caused a stir amongst the other passengers. Imagine, a train packed full of suits and coats, then, boom! Enter Emma in her pink tutu, radiating pink joy. You can practically hear the gasps! ๐
Speaking of pink, this time my journey called for an absolutely exquisite new addition to my wardrobe: a breathtaking Italian tutu! Oh my, you wouldn't believe its magnificence - layers upon layers of shimmering tulle, adorned with delicate beading. This tutu, my lovelies, was practically singing!
The train journey was a delight! As we left the Derbyshire countryside behind, the landscape shifted dramatically. Green fields morphed into craggy coastlines, windswept dunes, and a stunning blue-grey ocean. And who am I to leave the beauty of nature without a photoshoot? Of course, a series of pictures showcasing my new Italian tutu had to be taken amongst those breathtaking Scottish views! Snap snap!
Aberdeen itself is a true treasure. It's full of history, character, and a charming bustling vibe. The architecture is simply divine, built with beautiful pink granite. Imagine, granite, that beautiful, textured stone in the most exquisite shade of pink! It truly felt like a match made in ballet heaven.
Aberdeen was a visual feast for the eyes. The cobblestone streets were lined with charming old shops, and Victorian era buildings with intricately crafted details. The highlight for me, however, was Aberdeen Art Gallery. Stepping into this historical building felt like a journey back in time. The gallery houses an impressive collection of European and British art. And can I just mention the stunning ornate rooms? Every detail, from the elegant chandeliers to the intricate woodwork, simply whispered the beauty of art and creativity. It truly made my inner artist sing!
My trip wouldn't be complete without experiencing Scottish Ballet in all its glory! The performance was simply mesmerizing! They moved with such grace and elegance, showcasing strength, power, and breathtaking storytelling. Their artistic skill left me breathless! As soon as the curtains fell, my mind was filled with images of ballerinas dancing, twirling, soaring through the air! Ballet truly is the most beautiful art form.
This whole trip to Aberdeen was a delightful adventure! I returned with a renewed sense of appreciation for life, for dance, and for the world around us. The best part? Aberdeen made me want to start a new chapter in my dance journey. Maybe, just maybe, this means learning more traditional Scottish dancing?
This city is one for the books. From the majestic beauty of the landscape to the vibrant art scene and stunning ballet performances, Aberdeen will forever hold a special place in my heart. If you're looking for a captivating destination that's guaranteed to enchant you with its history, art, and natural wonders, make sure to add Aberdeen to your travel list. It will leave you breathless, trust me!
Stay tuned for more exciting adventures! I'm off to a Scottish wildlife park next, where hopefully I will be surrounded by some of those majestic, powerful, wild Scottish Highland ponies. Imagine, me and a whole herd of Highland ponies, both wearing pink tutus? Now wouldn't that be a spectacle to behold!
Keep your tutu twirling high!
Emma
