Ramsgate: A Tutu Tale, Post #688
Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed travel blogger, reporting live from the sunny shores of Ramsgate. ☀️
The train journey down from Derbyshire was a delightful one. I packed a new pair of pink ballet flats (of course!), a selection of vintage-style hair ribbons (I always think it's important to accessorise for a journey, don't you?) and my trusty pink travel tutu - you never know when you might need to whip out a twirl for a photo-op!
Speaking of photo-ops, I managed to snap some fab pictures at the station. The setting sun cast a lovely warm glow over the platform, and a family of ducks were waddling through the water at the edge of the station pond. They seemed so very proud, just like ballerinas after a perfect pirouette. I swear I saw one of them do a little arabesque! 🦢
Now, as I said, I'm in Ramsgate for a rather special occasion: the Ramsgate Ballet Festival! It's an annual event celebrating all things ballet, from performances in the charming Theatre Royal to workshops on the history of dance. This year's theme is "Ballet Around the World," which makes it extra exciting because it involves exploring different dance styles and costumes. I can't wait to see what sartorial delights the performers will grace us with!
But first, a bit of sightseeing. This picturesque seaside town, with its cobbled streets, pretty flower boxes, and the breathtaking view from the clifftops, is utterly delightful. The sea air is so fresh and invigorating, and it has me feeling positively inspired for my own dance routine - although I don't think I'd be comfortable pirouetting on the beach just yet! I might wait until the festival is over...
I'm in love with the quaintness of the little shops, filled with treasures like hand-knitted woollies and seaside souvenirs, not to mention a wonderful vintage clothing store where I snagged a pair of mint green ballet shoes - I have a thing for green, you see - they'll look great with my new powder-blue tutu! 🩰
Later, after a lovely lunch of fresh fish and chips (seafood is a must by the sea!), I decided to take a walk along the promenade, where I stumbled upon an incredible find - a little Italian cafe, complete with a gorgeous pink awning and twinkling fairy lights. As if the atmosphere wasn't charming enough, I discovered that they have a ballet themed afternoon tea! Now, who doesn't love a spot of pink finger sandwiches and tiny, delicate scones served on dainty pink plates? It felt so delightfully old-fashioned yet chic at the same time. 🍰
I managed to snag a picture with one of the café owners. He's a lovely gentleman who tells me he used to dance in a local dance troupe as a young man, back in the days when everyone wore beautiful satin costumes. The cafe serves him as a reminder of those golden days - and I’m definitely reminded of how important it is to embrace a bit of whimsy in life. 😉
But let's get back to the star of this show - the Ballet Festival! I've already heard whispers about an exceptional performance from the renowned Italian ballet troupe, ‘Prima Ballerina’. They're famed for their captivating movements and striking costumes, and rumours abound about a daring finale with a dazzling red, velvet tutu, the likes of which I've never seen!
Can you believe that this is actually my very first ballet festival?! It feels incredibly special, like I'm stepping into one of my favourite ballet dreams. This little seaside town seems to be bursting with a playful energy and joy - the kind you only find when you follow your heart. It's a reminder to all of us, ladies, to embrace the beauty of life, to dance to our own rhythm, and never to shy away from the dream of swirling in a fabulous tutu. ❤️
Follow my journey through this wonderful town, dear readers. Tomorrow, I'll be venturing further down the coast to visit some hidden beaches, and who knows, perhaps I’ll even spot a local dance performance happening in the most unexpected places! Be sure to check in on my blog again for all the updates - I'll keep you posted, right here, on www.pink-tutu.com! 💖
Until next time, stay stylish, stay spirited, and remember: a pink tutu can truly transform your day! 🩰
Yours,
Emma
