Hampstead Heaven in a Yellow Tutu! (Post #1176)

Hey darlings! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad ballerina, and today's adventures take us to the charming and sophisticated Hampstead, a little slice of countryside heaven right in the heart of London.

Now, you all know how much I adore my tutus โ€“ it's pretty much my life's mission to get everyone twirling in one โ€“ but sometimes even a pink tutu needs a break! This time, I went for a sunshiney yellow, just to match the bright autumnal hues of Hampstead Heath, where my afternoon adventures began. It felt like I was walking straight into a fairytale โ€“ those sprawling green fields, the impossibly tall trees, and the golden leaves shimmering in the sunshine... it was truly enchanting!

I always say that a little wander through nature does wonders for the soul, especially after a long week at the studio. I popped into a charming little cafe on the Heath called "The Flask" for a cheeky scone and a pot of tea, surrounded by giggling school girls and fluffy poodles. What's not to love?

But even a girly girl like myself has a love for a little culture, so after my afternoon tea, I ventured into the heart of Hampstead to check out the Royal Free Hospital School, a hidden gem tucked away behind a grand old mansion. Now, this wasn't just any old school โ€“ it was designed by the very famous, Sir George Gilbert Scott, known for his beautiful Victorian Gothic architecture. The school is even said to be haunted, a rumour I simply had to investigate.

Needless to say, the ghosts of Hampstead remained well hidden, leaving me free to marvel at the incredible stained glass windows and the vast courtyard. Can you imagine spending your school days in a place so beautiful? Talk about inspiration!

Next, I embarked on a proper Hampstead "must-do" - a visit to Keats House. This historic treasure holds memories of the poet himself and boasts the original fireplace and mantelpiece where he penned some of his most famous works. The house itself was just delightful, and I found myself falling in love with its rich history and cozy charm. It was like stepping into a bygone era!

But what would Hampstead be without a dose of luxury, right? I treated myself to a stroll along Hampstead High Street, where the quaint shops and boutiques just beckoned me to step inside. I could've spent the whole evening browsing through antique stores, sniffing vintage perfumes, and trying on hats โ€“ the temptation was overwhelming!

Luckily, I managed to escape with a charmingly floral teacup, perfect for a bit of "Afternoon Tea with Emma" at home. It's going to look fantastic perched on top of my dresser, next to a collection of antique tutus I'm slowly amassing.

But my adventure wasn't over! I hopped on a train to Euston, and, you guessed it, there was a reason! This time, it was for the grand spectacle of the Royal Ballet. They were performing Giselle, my favourite story-filled masterpiece! My inner ballerina was completely ecstatic, swirling around in the crowd with excitement as the music filled the air. The dancers were phenomenal, their every movement telling a story of love, heartbreak, and the beauty of ballet itself.

If you've never been to a ballet performance, please do yourself a favour and grab a ticket! There's truly no feeling like it โ€“ a whole world unfolds on stage, where emotions and stories come to life through dance. It's pure magic!

Now, after a jam-packed day, I'm back at home in Derbyshire, feeling more inspired than ever! Hampstead was the perfect mix of nature, history, and the beauty of dance, proving that there's something for everyone in this lovely part of London.

And let's not forget the star of the day โ€“ my gorgeous yellow tutu. It brought me joy, made me twirl with delight, and truly allowed me to embrace the essence of this magical city.

So, what's the takeaway, my lovely readers? Don't be afraid to wear a little colour and embrace the wonder of ballet, no matter where you find yourself. And maybe, just maybe, try wearing a tutu on your next adventure! It might just surprise you.

Until next time, keep those toes pointed and those hearts filled with joy!

Love,

Emma xx
