Weston-Super-Mare: Tutu-ing the Town!

Post #2404 - February 1st, 2003 - www.pink-tutu.com

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-loving ballerina, and today, we're off on a grand adventure to Weston-super-Mare. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Weston-Super-Mare? What's so special about a seaside town?" But let me tell you, this place has more charm than a ballet class filled with adorable baby bunnies (which is pretty darn charming!).

Firstly, we're making this journey by train! Imagine, dear readers, me, in my signature pink tutu (a sunshine-yellow today to brighten up the dreary winter sky) sipping on a cappuccino and reading a good book whilst watching the beautiful British countryside fly by. Honestly, it's pure magic!

As we chugged towards the seaside, I couldn't help but be swept up in the excitement. Weston-super-Mare is like a childhood memory come to life - with its long, sandy beach, quaint seaside shops, and a delightful whiff of salty air. My inner child, clad in a sparkly pink leotard and tulle tutu, skipped with joy!

But this trip was no mere seaside stroll. We had a ballet performance lined up at the Weston-super-Mare Playhouse. Now, you might think "Emma, haven't you performed in some of the most prestigious theatres in the world?", and yes, I have! But there's just something special about a smaller venue, you know? The energy feels more intimate, and the connection with the audience is so genuine.

And the performance itself? Simply sublime! We did a whimsical adaptation of "Coppelia," but with a modern twist - think vibrant costumes, some hip-hop moves, and of course, my favourite pink tutu! The applause was deafening (in a good way, of course), and seeing the happy faces of the children in the audience reminded me of the beauty of ballet – it's for everyone!

After the show, we all ventured into the heart of Weston-super-Mare, where we stumbled upon the most delightful vintage tea room. Now, tea is always a lovely affair, but when you add delicate pastries and china teacups to the mix, it becomes an experience. We sipped our Earl Grey, giggling over the antics of the town's resident seagulls (such flamboyant creatures!).

The rest of the afternoon was spent wandering around the bustling market, sniffing out handmade candles and trying on those quirky seaside souvenirs (I snagged a pink, obviously, starfish!). It was all very reminiscent of my Derbyshire childhood, just a little bit warmer and by the sea!

I do love to travel, darlings, but even the most glamorous destination can’t replace a trip back home. Derbyshire’s lush green fields, rugged hills, and the quaint little villages - all sprinkled with wildlife. And let me tell you, the local pub there, nestled snugly next to the old, stone church, with its welcoming fire, good beer, and warm atmosphere is truly something special. And no matter where I am, a pink tutu is always a perfect travel companion!

The evening ended on a beautiful, sunny note as we watched the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky with fiery hues. As I rode back on the train, wrapped in the comfort of my fuzzy pink travel shawl (yes, I have one!), I couldn't help but feel thankful for the joy and wonder that ballet brings to my life. It's more than just dancing; it's an adventure, an escape, and a reminder to always live life to the fullest.

And let's not forget the true purpose of my little blog: to encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu, even if just for one day! To let the colour and freedom of ballet fill your lives! Who knows, perhaps your inner ballerina just needs a little nudge to shine!

See you tomorrow, darlings! Until then, embrace your inner ballerina, and may your tutus be pink (or maybe yellow if you're feeling extra bold)!

Yours always,

Emma
