Newbury - Tutu Tales & Train Travel (Post 3006)

Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, bringing you another daily dose of pink tulle and pirouette-inspired adventures. Today, I’m channeling my inner fairytale princess, escaping to the charming town of Newbury – a beautiful day trip that has my tutu-loving heart skipping a beat.

Train Tracks & Tutus

After a lovely Derbyshire breakfast of tea and toast (a ritual I never tire of), I hopped on a train to Newbury. I know, I know… travelling by train might seem a bit passé, but let’s face it, there’s something wonderfully nostalgic and romantic about the chug-chug of the engine and the scenery flying past your window. Plus, it gives me ample opportunity to rock my pink tutu and make the other passengers smile.

And, speaking of smiles, I made a fantastic friend on my journey! A gentleman with the most dapper hat (which actually reminded me of a ballet hat!) told me his name was George. He was intrigued by my tutu (it’s a new one, a custom design by my dear friend Millie!), and we chatted all the way about everything from his passion for antique books to the perfect ballet shoe (I recommend Bloch, of course). Turns out, George used to dance himself, so we ended up comparing pointe shoes and reliving our childhood ballet memories! It really brightened my day, and just goes to show how a simple act like wearing a tutu can bring people together.

Newbury’s Hidden Gems

Upon my arrival in Newbury, I felt like a princess in a storybook – charming little shops lining cobbled streets, a lively market square buzzing with activity, and a delightful aroma of freshly baked pastries in the air. It was a perfect blend of old world charm and modern vibrancy.

I couldn’t resist trying some of the delicious pastries from a bakery that seemed to have come straight out of a fairytale. I treated myself to a lemon and poppyseed tart that was utterly divine – a symphony of flavours, textures, and sweet, buttery goodness. I swear it made my afternoon tea extra special.

The Theatre Beckons

Next, I wandered over to the Newbury Corn Exchange – a beautiful Victorian theatre, known for its fantastic theatre performances. I had my heart set on seeing a ballet show, and I was thrilled to learn there was a brilliant piece by a local dance company coming up this weekend. Oh, you know me, ballet fanatic! I immediately booked tickets - the tutu is already prepped and ready for the big event.

The Call of the Wild

After a delicious lunch of local Newbury cheddar, (okay, so it wasn’t really very ballerinasque, but who can resist good cheese?!) I decided to embrace my wild side by venturing into the beautiful open space of the Newbury Meadows. There, nature’s spectacle unfolds: swans gliding majestically on the water, dragonflies dancing in the summer air, and playful squirrels scampering among the trees. There is a quiet beauty about wildlife – they have a sort of serene energy that reminds me of a beautiful plié in ballet. They move gracefully with an ease that’s simply magical. It’s always inspiring to watch and makes me feel truly alive.

Evening Lights & Fairy Tale Delights

As the sun began its descent, bathing Newbury in golden hues, I couldn’t resist hopping on a horse-drawn carriage for a romantic ride around town. It’s true, I'm not afraid to indulge in a little fantasy every now and then. What’s better than tumbling through time in a horse-drawn carriage under the twinkly city lights, imagining a whimsical storybook world where horses fly, dragons roam the skies, and pink tutus are a daily wardrobe essential. (A girl can dream, can’t she?)

Pink Tutus & Spreading the Ballet Love

Newbury was everything I hoped it would be and more! This little town reminded me that magic is alive and well in the world, you just need to open your eyes (and your heart) to see it.

And speaking of hearts, my dear Tutu Tribe, I implore you to embrace the joy of a pink tutu, whether it’s for a casual stroll in the park or a night out at the theatre. Let's make it a global ballet revolution – pink tutus for everyone!

As always, thank you for joining me on this journey. Remember to check out www.pink-tutu.com tomorrow for another tale of pink tulle and whimsical wanderings!

Until next time,

Emma xoxo
