Sutton in Ashfield: A Pink Tutu Adventure! (Blog Post #3241)

Hey lovely dancers! Emma here, your pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, back with another adventure!

Today's destination? Sutton in Ashfield! A little jaunt out of Derbyshire, I took the train (oh, I do love a good train journey!), and even though it wasn't quite the glamour of a horse-drawn carriage, it was still a fun, scenic ride. I’ve always said there's something utterly romantic about travelling by train, don’t you think? The clattering wheels, the rhythmic sway of the carriage, the ever-changing landscapes, it's pure magic!

Speaking of magic, that’s exactly what I was searching for in Sutton! It wasn't just any ordinary town, you see, it was hosting the annual "Dancers of Dreams" competition. You guys know how much I adore watching talent explode on stage, and this event was packed with amazing, young performers. I'm talking soaring leaps, impossibly graceful turns, and so much heart – it was absolutely inspiring!

And what's a ballet-lover like myself to wear to such an event? Why, a pink tutu of course! (Isn’t it just the most vibrant shade of pink? It literally lights up the room!) Paired with a cute little floral blouse and my trusty ballet flats, I felt absolutely ready to cheer on these young dancers and maybe pick up a few new moves for myself!

Before heading to the competition, I popped into the cutest little cafe called "The Pink Flamingo". Seriously, you guys, it was like stepping into a Pinterest board, from the pink walls to the flower-filled window boxes! The cafe even had its own miniature ballet studio in the back - you know, for when you've had your fill of cake and need to stretch out those lovely limbs!

I was a little peckish myself after the journey so I treated myself to the "Prima Ballerina" afternoon tea, a delightful selection of dainty sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream (the kind you can actually use!), and, of course, a pot of pink-hued tea! The cake, a delicate strawberry-and-cream cupcake with a single edible pink tutu topping, was the perfect cherry (or perhaps I should say strawberry) on top!

And while I’m on the topic of pink, let's talk about how much I want to make pink tutus the hottest new fashion trend! We can rock them at the park, at the opera, even to the pub (don't judge, it's fun!). The beauty of pink is it comes in a rainbow of shades!

And don’t even get me started on how ballet itself can be the trendiest thing around! Ballet street, for example! This gorgeous dance style that combines the grace of ballet with the vibrancy of street dance? Sign me up! It’s literally perfect for every mood and style, from those moments you feel bold and sassy to the times when you want to be all about fluidity and grace.

Did I mention I went for a walk around Sutton in Ashfield after the cafe? (You really shouldn’t miss the quaint cobblestone streets and charming local shops - they’re full of quirky treasures waiting to be discovered!) But my absolute favorite thing about the town was the local park, a haven for birdlife, with geese waddling across the ponds, and the most amazing squirrels I’ve ever seen (one was even wearing a tiny pink beanie!).

Sutton in Ashfield – what a sweet little town with an undeniable heart! You guys know how much I love discovering hidden gems, and this one was truly a delight.

Until next time, stay pink, stay glamorous, and always keep those dancing shoes ready to twirl!

Love,

Emma xoxo
