Rhyl Ramblings: Pancakes & Pink Tutus

Post number 3866, 2nd February 2007

Hello, darlings! It's your girl, Emma, from the heart of Derbyshire, ready to bring you some sunshine on this February day with a dose of pink, tutus, and travel tales. Today, we're off on a little adventure to the seaside town of Rhyl in North Wales.

Think of a bright pink, fluffy tutu with shimmering pink sequins - now add a touch of seaside air, the salty scent of the sea, and a smattering of cheeky seagulls - you’ve got the picture of my day.

I was excited for this trip. Who wouldn't be? Leaving Derbyshire behind, swapping the rolling green hills for the vast blue ocean - just the thing for a happy soul like me. A trip by train was definitely in order, and trust me, there’s nothing like a journey through the countryside to fuel the creative spark.

Oh, but first, let's talk about my sartorial choices. Did I mention pink? Well, of course, darling, pink it was. Now, normally, when I say pink, I'm thinking of that vibrant fuchsia pink that just makes my heart sing. Today, I went for a softer, almost rose-hued pink that reminded me of a ballet shoe - gentle yet full of promise. This perfectly complemented my oh-so-softly flowing pink tutu. Think layers of delicate, hand-stitched tulle, cascading down like a romantic dream. Oh, how I love the feeling of tulle against my skin, the lightness of it, the promise of twirls.

You know me, I like to add a little spice to my outfits, even for a casual day. So, I added a sparkly pink brooch shaped like a little ballerina, a perfect finishing touch to my outfit. Let's just say that even the conductor on the train had a twinkle in his eye!

Reaching Rhyl, the seaside breeze caressed my cheeks and whisked my tulle into a little pink cloud, as I wandered through the charming town, taking in the quaint shops, the brightly coloured beach huts, and the invigorating smell of salty air. Rhyl was alive with energy, the vibrant colours echoing my own pink-filled spirit.

Oh, but where would my journey be complete without a spot of tea and cake? And so, I indulged in a delightful pink pancake. Honestly, who wouldn’t love a stack of pink pancakes with lashings of creamy vanilla sauce? My tummy and my soul were positively content.

Of course, I couldn't go to the seaside without a visit to the shore itself. So, with the gentle rhythm of the waves as my guide, I waltzed along the sand, feeling the cool, refreshing sand between my toes.

While strolling along the seafront, I encountered a beautiful bird of prey perched on a rock, watching the waves ebb and flow. It had eyes that seemed to see deep into my soul, reminding me of the peacefulness and freedom I always find in nature. Just like the beauty of nature, dance can take you on a journey, bringing you back to yourself, allowing you to fully appreciate the simplicity of the world. This little encounter reignited my inner desire to move and be inspired, reminding me that dance, like nature, is all about freedom, expression, and being yourself.

My visit to Rhyl was a delightful mix of charm, creativity, and, of course, the ever-present dose of pink. Whether it was the playful pastel pinks of the seaside town, the vibrant hues of the coastal views, or my very own personal dose of pink with my trusty tutu, the day was simply a treat for my senses.

There's something truly magical about the combination of ballet and the natural world - that feeling of pure liberation. If you’re ever in Rhyl, do make your way to the shore, let the sea air wash over you, and find a bit of your inner ballerina. And, of course, indulge in some pink pancakes. You deserve it!

Speaking of pancakes, that gives me an idea! How about a pink pancake-themed ballet class, with a whimsical tutu costume? I'd have everyone in the studio doing grand jetés with a pink, fluffy pancake in their hands! Oh, what a wonderful ballet dream it would be!

Don't forget to keep your tutus twirling and your spirits high! I’ll see you tomorrow, my dearest readers, for more pink-tinted adventures and inspiration on www.pink-tutu.com!

Love, Emma x
