Saint Albans: Tutu Travels #7296
Hello darlings! Emma here, back with another fabulous post from my little corner of the world – and today I’m whisking you off to the charming town of Saint Albans, a mere stone’s throw from my beloved Derbyshire.
Now, this trip was a real treat for my inner ballerina, because it was all about embracing the joy of dancing in style – with a touch of European chic, of course! As you know, a trip for me wouldn't be complete without a killer tutu. So, for this journey, I packed my very special pastel pink tulle creation with intricate beadwork, a nod to the exquisite Parisian tutus I've fallen head over heels for on countless ballet adventures. It felt perfect for strolling the cobblestone streets of this historical town.
Speaking of history, Saint Albans is practically bursting at the seams with it. From the Roman ruins of Verulamium to the imposing Saint Albans Cathedral, there’s something captivating at every turn. We (by "we" I mean me and my fabulous, tutu-loving pal, Maisie!) spent a good chunk of the day getting lost in the charming, independent boutiques, and I managed to snag some vintage ballet-inspired treasures. Honestly, the antique jewellery shop was like a treasure trove for my pink-tinted dreams!
But darling, the real magic unfolded in the evening at the Saint Albans Theatre. You know how much I adore the magical world of live theatre – especially when it's all about those graceful dancers! Tonight was a delightful showcase of local talent, with a performance of Giselle. I can’t say the whole show was quite up to par with my London haunts – it's still got that 'local-theatre' feel, you know – but there were certainly some truly stunning moments! The story's always captivating, and the leading lady really brought tears to my eyes. Honestly, there's nothing like a classic ballet to stir up all the emotions!
As I was taking my usual selfie outside the theatre (gotta document it for Instagram!), this sweet, old gentleman walked past with his lovely granddaughter, who just HAD to admire my tutu. He even complimented me on the color! Such a delightful interaction – proof positive that the pink-tutu love transcends all ages and walks of life!
Of course, no day trip would be complete without some good old-fashioned English fare, so after the theatre, we headed straight to the local gastropub. And boy, oh boy, did I find my happy place! They had a fabulous "ballet dancer's menu" – seriously! A healthy salad topped with chicken and berries followed by a delicate strawberry mousse, and a glass of the most beautiful pink champagne. Talk about the perfect fuel for all that dancing!
It really was a quintessential British summer day! It all reminded me why I love venturing beyond my usual routine. Even just a few hours away, I felt re-energised and ready to conquer the world… or at least conquer my next ballet class back in Derby!
The beauty of travelling, darling, is that it sparks inspiration – for life, for fashion, for everything. I can already see so many outfit ideas for my next adventure: perhaps a picnic in the countryside, or a trip to see the wild ponies roaming the Dartmoor? But one thing's for sure, I'm going to keep those pink tutus handy wherever I go! They are, after all, the key to my happy place!
