Borehamwood Bound! #TutuBlog 7676

Hello my darling darlings! Emma here, back with you from the glorious green hills of Derbyshire, ready to whisk you away on a tutu-tastic adventure to the bustling town of Borehamwood. I’m so excited for today’s post, because it's a twirling combination of pink-tinted whimsy, a journey by train (because we all know trains are the most magical way to travel, right?), and, of course, a healthy dose of ballet love! 🩰

Today's adventure takes us beyond the rolling hills and friendly sheep of Derbyshire to a place steeped in film history – the town where studios are king and dreams are born (well, at least the dreams of being on screen, haha!) I must confess, I love me some old-school Hollywood glam, and I'm truly buzzing about immersing myself in this creative atmosphere, soaking up the energy of movie magic. ✨

But let’s not forget why I'm really here – Ballet! Borehamwood is playing host to an absolutely amazing, all-star production of ‘The Nutcracker’ featuring the Royal Ballet Company – and I'm going to witness this fairytale ballet unfold from the front row! 😮 Talk about a dream come true. Imagine me, a simple ballerina from the Dales, about to be graced by the exquisite artistry of some of the world’s best dancers! I think I might be blushing a shade of pink! 🥰

But before I waltz into the theatre, let’s get the essential #TutuBlog outfit sorted, shall we? 😉 Today's outfit calls for a tutu so gorgeous it'll stop the trains in their tracks! I’ve opted for a vibrant purple number that, believe me, sparkles brighter than the paparazzi flashbulbs in front of a movie premiere! 😉 The tulle is a dream – billowing and soft, like a cloud dancing in the wind! It feels as though I could twirl all day and never tire. 😍

Of course, I had to match my shoes to my tutu (because, honestly, who am I if my shoes aren't making a statement?) I’ve gone for some classic pink pointe shoes that have a touch of sparkle and gleam that's almost… iridescent. Oh, I do love it when my outfit is like a sparkling little party in its own right! 🎉

Before boarding the train, I took a quick break in my favourite Derbyshire café to fuel up for the journey. I couldn't resist a double espresso and a slice of that divine strawberry and vanilla cake. Just a touch of caffeine to keep me energetic and a little sugar rush to prepare for my theatrical excitement. ☕️🍰

You know I wouldn't leave home without my beloved ballet bag! My trusty old companion is filled with the essentials for any self-respecting ballerina on the move: my pink notebook, so I can scribble down every thought and dream, a water bottle to stay hydrated (keeping my body healthy is a priority, you see!), a little emergency makeup kit, and… hold on… the ultimate secret weapon? My stash of glitter! Yes, you read that right! 💖 Just a sprinkle of this fabulous magic adds a touch of extra magic to my day – especially on a special day like this.

Train travel in the UK is such a delightful experience! There's something so wonderfully nostalgic about watching the world zip past. It's a journey through picturesque scenery, small villages, bustling cities, and everything in between. I adore the sense of calm and peaceful contemplation that train travel offers. This morning’s ride has allowed me to fully absorb the anticipation of seeing "The Nutcracker" and think about what the evening holds. Maybe it'll inspire me for my own dance routines. 😉

I do love to people-watch on the train too. This morning's fellow travellers ranged from suits, bookworms (I spotted someone with the complete Jane Austen collection, bless them!) to young students going to the city for their university lectures. Every passenger is a story in itself, just waiting to be explored.

As my train journey winds down and Borehamwood’s grand station appears on the horizon, I can’t help but smile. The air buzzes with creative energy and the possibility for something truly magnificent. My pink tutu swishes with excitement. You can be sure that my little heart is ready to experience every magical moment this theatre town has to offer.

And then it was time for the ballet! 😍 I waltzed into the theatre, my pink tutu sparkling under the theatre's magical light, feeling as though I was stepping straight into the pages of a ballet fairytale. The performance was absolutely breathtaking. From the grace and power of the dancers to the exquisite costumes, to the intricate music that took us all on a journey through magical lands, I was enthralled from beginning to end! The "Nutcracker" has such a special place in my heart and to experience it in Borehamwood with the Royal Ballet was a truly humbling and unforgettable experience. ✨

As I left the theatre, the excitement of the night still buzzing within me, I knew it would be a memory I'd treasure forever. The train ride back to Derbyshire gave me plenty of time to reflect on the journey, on the art of dance, and on how ballet is a powerful, passionate art form that connects us all, no matter where we come from.

So there you have it – another enchanting #TutuBlog chapter closed. Now it’s back to my favourite things in Derbyshire: my ballet classes, watching the wild animals that inhabit our hills, and dreaming up the next magical adventures for #TutuBlog. Keep shining, darlings! I’ll be back with more adventures, inspiration, and, of course, the latest tutu-tastic fashion tips very soon! Until next time!

XOXO, Emma 💖
