Rhyl, Darling! Pink Tutu's Take on the Welsh Coast (Post 7736)

Oh my goodness, you guys! Buckle up for this one, because my heart's bursting with joy, excitement, and yes, you guessed it, PINK! Today, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballet fanatic is off on an adventure, but not just any adventure, no! Today we're hitting the seaside! And not just any seaside, we're headed to the lovely seaside town of Rhyl in beautiful, wild, windy Wales!

I love Wales! There's just something about the wildness of the Welsh coast that fills me with a giddy, childish delight, the kind of feeling that only a twirling pink tutu can fully encapsulate! I can almost feel the salty sea air blowing through my hair, even now, sitting here in my Derbyshire home, the scent of the sea mixed with freshly-baked cupcakes wafting around my room, which is, obviously, a hot pink and white dream of a space! I mean, how can a ballet fanatic who also has a teeny addiction to tutus and anything pink live in a room that isn't an explosion of sugary hues?! Don't worry, I'll post a picture later!

Right, back to Rhyl! I'm making my way there by train, because honestly, can anything compare to a day spent watching the world flash by from the comfort of a train carriage, with my fluffy, pastel pink notebook in hand? No, darling, I think not! Plus, a train is way better than that dreadful car - unless it's a vintage red one, I don't want anything to do with car journeys unless it's some retro gem, just me and the road! But for today, it's train journeys all the way. I've already planned out my soundtrack: a mix of waltzes and rhapsodies - just the thing to fuel the daydreams and ideas flowing like a river in my mind!

Speaking of flowing rivers, my lovely new European-style tutu, which is all flowing layers of delicate tulle, is also getting ready for the grand unveiling! Yes, she's going to get her big reveal in the most scenic way: on the seafront, facing those wind-swept dunes and crashing waves! It's a dramatic scene worthy of an equally dramatic outfit. I'm also wearing my pale-pink suede shoes. The color matches the dreamy seaside sunset perfectly, especially against those wild Welsh dunes, Don't forget to check my instagram for those shots - you guys know how much I adore posting photos.

But before I hit the seaside, we're going to start the day the proper way. I'm stopping off at the most beautiful little cafe - called The Twirling Tulip – just off the train station in Rhyl. You can't imagine the pastel perfection! Pink walls, flowery tables, a ceiling decked with a whole field of silk butterflies... and they have the most amazing cakes! Imagine - lemon and lavender, carrot cake with cinnamon swirl icing and a beautiful buttercream rose… It's so tempting to spend my entire afternoon there, but there's a schedule to stick to, darling. You know how important discipline is, especially when you're on a mission to take your dreams to a wider audience. I mean, come on, haven't we all dreamed of twirling on the seaside in a glorious pink tutu? Now I'm making it my life mission to encourage others to join me - let's make the world a more sparkly place, one tutu at a time!

Of course, after the indulgent little feast, it’s time to hit the Rhyl promenade, which happens to be right on the edge of a beautiful beach with a giant pier reaching out into the turquoise sea. Perfect! What better way to show off the tutu than by a promenade stroll, feeling the breeze in my hair and the rhythm of the ocean drumming a heartbeat in my chest. The sun shining down and the waves crashing on the shore, the gulls soaring over the water, the gentle swaying of the pier... You guys, it’s pure bliss. I even took a video of myself spinning in a complete circle while doing some very basic ballet moves – like pliés, jetés, and grand jetés – right on the seafront! Can’t wait to share that on my socials - my insta story, the TikTok – oh, this trip is going to be perfect!

And for some reason, today, the energy around Rhyl is magnetic - like everyone wants to be dancing. I mean, it’s the perfect energy for an energetic twirl or some fancy footwork in a ballet class - yes, that's next on the itinerary, darling! The studio, a sweet little dance haven nestled just above a beautiful florist shop, looks just perfect, a haven of grace and grace in the heart of Rhyl. You know I love a little ballet class on my travels – it just keeps the body and mind flowing in unison, a constant rhythm that helps to focus those creative energy when I'm on the go. The teachers are super nice, I loved how relaxed it was; all smiles and positivity! They also encouraged the beginners in the class, and it’s amazing to see the joy it brings people, regardless of their age or experience - It’s like they’re stepping back into a playful and expressive side of themselves. It reminded me why I started doing ballet when I was six – It just makes you happy!

Speaking of joyful things, my camera doesn’t stop snapping, and the pink notebook gets another dose of creative inspiration from the charming streets of Rhyl. I am a bit of a vintage shopper when I travel. A gorgeous pink Victorian era vintage brooch and a silver ballet slipper charm found their way into my purse and my heart. Of course, the charming pink shop, a haven of nostalgia and beautiful lace, played a major role in the buying frenzy!

In the evening, it’s all about experiencing the life of a town, watching the local ballet show in Rhyl's beautiful town hall. With those grand old, elegant rooms the setting, it feels like a scene from a Jane Austen novel come to life. The dance performance itself is so captivating! My toes were tapping and I couldn’t help myself but twirl a little in my seat, like everyone around me couldn’t stop themselves from getting swept up by the power of music and movement. The performers' grace was so compelling – the energy of their dancers' movements; a beautiful tapestry of passion and grace woven in every single step. The dancers in their gorgeous velvet tutus were really quite something! And honestly, I felt completely and utterly transported.

I've had the best day in Rhyl, filled with twirling in the wind, laughter, seaside treats, a ballet class that reconnected me with the pure joy of dancing, and of course, an evening of artistic delight. You know me and my obsession with ballet - my heart just melts for it! And yes, I just couldn’t resist – I even tried to sneak in a little pirouette in my vintage ballet-inspired dress on the beach under the last of the evening sky. A bit of pink tutu magic right in the heart of Rhyl - Oh, my days! It was absolutely heavenly!

Oh, you know, as I look out my window, the evening drawing in and the moonlight making its appearance - the sound of a lonely violin drifting in from the street – a tune from that beautiful ballet – you know what, it seems Rhyl has a bit of magic in the air - I can just feel it. It’s that feeling of warmth, joy, and beauty that I’m trying to create in every little corner of the world I visit, spreading that pink tutu love and reminding everyone just how delightful a simple pirouette can be.

Till tomorrow!

Always,

Emma, Pink Tutu
