Mitcham Makes Me Move! (Post #8102)

Hello lovelies! It's your girl Emma, signing in from Mitcham! It's hard to believe it's already September, time is simply flying by! This week has been all about getting back into the swing of things after my summer adventures, but I’ve had a whirlwind few days of fun, feathers, and… a very curious encounter with a peacock!

As always, my travel companions are my trusty pink luggage and of course, the star of the show – a brand new feather tutu. I absolutely adore finding vintage tutus in thrift shops – it’s like finding a tiny treasure trove of sparkles and memories! This one’s a beautiful pale peachy pink with a scattering of iridescent feathers that move and shimmer as I twirl. You just know this tutu is going to make an entrance – especially paired with my new pink floral-print midi skirt and some pearly white trainers. (You can check out the outfit details on my Instagram – it’s @PinkTutuEmma!).

But, let's rewind a little! My journey started, as always, with a dash of Derbyshire countryside magic. I took the train, the rhythmic rumble of the tracks and the fleeting views of rolling hills and sleepy villages always put me in such a good mood. It’s such a relaxing way to travel, plus you get to be in your own little world for a bit!

When I arrived at Mitcham, I headed straight to the ballet studio. I’ve found a new ballet class in the heart of town, a tiny studio with floor to ceiling mirrors and the scent of polished wooden floors – bliss! I can’t describe the feeling of putting on my leotard, stretching those tired summer muscles and reclaiming the joy of movement. It's more than just a class; it's a reminder that you're powerful, flexible, and full of life.

That night, Mitcham really blew me away. It wasn’t just a town anymore, it felt like a miniature city with a quirky charm all its own! I saw a beautiful ballet street performance featuring a group of young dancers in bright tutus. They were so full of life and energy, reminding me why I love ballet so much – it’s all about expressing yourself!

But the absolute highlight of the evening? An unexpected visit from a peacock in a local park! I don't even know how he got there, maybe he was visiting his cousins or escaped from a private garden. But let me tell you, he was stunning! This peacock had feathers in every shade of green, blue, and copper. He was posing right by a pretty pond with swans and geese, like it was a royal photo op. I was entranced! I grabbed my phone, snapped a million photos (because, how often do you get to encounter a peacock?), and felt like I was part of some whimsical fairy tale.

I ended the day with dinner at the cutest little tea shop, nestled under the shadow of a tall, red brick church. The tea was lovely (of course!), and I shared a delicious, perfectly-pink strawberry tart with some friendly locals. Everyone seemed to love talking about ballet and they all told me about their favourite ballet shows and movies!

As I'm writing this, I'm back at the studio, just finished stretching and enjoying the silence as the town comes to life for a new day. My thoughts are filled with the vibrant colours of feathers, the rhythmic echo of dance, and the beauty of unexpected adventures.

Here's the thing: life’s about more than just work and routine, it’s about exploring, being curious, and finding beauty in the everyday. Whether you’re a ballet fan or just a lover of pretty things, put on a pink tutu (even if it's just in your imagination) and take a leap! Remember, life’s a ballet – full of unexpected moves and graceful moments. Let’s get out there and dance, loves!

Love,

Emma xoxo
