Spalding Adventures: A Green Tutu Takes on the Fens

Hello my darling tutu-lovers! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed, travel-mad girl from the heart of Derbyshire. And today, my loves, I'm going green! Well, sort of.

It's Saturday morning, the sun is shining, and the birds are chirping – all good signs for a trip, especially when it involves my favourite mode of transport, a beautiful steam train! You see, I've always felt there's something magical about the gentle rhythm of a steam engine. Plus, I can always sneak in a little barre practice in the carriage (not that anyone would notice with the rattling).

But back to today's adventure! This morning, I donned my emerald green tutu – yes, green, you heard me right! Sometimes a girl just needs a little colour in her life, and green is truly my current muse. I paired it with a white silk top, some fabulous emerald green ballet shoes, and a dash of pink blush. The look, my dears, was simply chef's kiss.

The destination? Spalding, a charming town in Lincolnshire, known for its wide open fens and its vibrant history. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Emma, green tutu in Spalding? Really?". But let me tell you, green and pink go beautifully together, and this emerald number is just the perfect touch for my exploration of this intriguing town.

The steam train deposited us right in the heart of Spalding, where the smell of freshly baked bread filled the air and charming little shops beckoned me inside. It's almost impossible to not fall in love with this place! It's like stepping back in time with its quaint cottages, cobbled streets, and a friendly atmosphere that could melt the iciest of hearts.

My first stop? The South Holland Centre, a vibrant cultural hub for the town. My ears were buzzing with excitement as I stepped into a dazzling art exhibition. They even had an interactive installation where I could twirl like a ballerina surrounded by vibrant colours – it was like stepping into a painting!

But I couldn't stay inside for long. I had fens to explore! After a delicious lunch at the quaint little café near the train station (where I surprised everyone by gracefully sipping my coffee using just my pinkie – ballerina chic, darling!), I hopped on a horse-drawn carriage (a real carriage, you know, with horses and all!) to venture into the beautiful fens. The wind in my hair, the scent of wildflowers, the soft plod of hooves…it was truly idyllic.

The vastness of the fens stretched out before me, like a canvas painted by nature. They were simply breathtaking. And amidst the rolling green landscapes, the graceful curves of my emerald green tutu danced a perfect harmony. It was truly a magical moment!

The sun started to set, painting the fens in shades of orange and pink. I knew it was time to return, but I was already dreaming of my next visit. Spalding has captivated my heart with its natural beauty and vibrant soul. And it seems that even my green tutu found a home here, amongst the rolling greens and sparkling waters.

Back in the cosy comfort of the train carriage, as we sped back towards Derbyshire, I felt my heart bursting with the joy of this day. Spalding, with its charming charm and enchanting landscape, was truly an unforgettable adventure. And just to show you that my love for pink never sleeps, I’ve added a little extra pink to this post - a delicate, blush-pink tinge that adds a touch of whimsy.

Now, darling readers, I urge you all to explore. Pack your favourite tutu, embrace a little adventure, and go out there and discover new wonders. And remember, the world is a beautiful ballet, just waiting for you to take centre stage!

Until next time, Emma x
