Watford Whirl: Tutu Travels Take Me To The Thames!

Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! Emma here, reporting from Watford, and guess what? I’m sporting a brand new purple tutu today! It’s been a long day, packed full of adventures. You know how much I love train journeys (something about those chugging wheels and quaint little stations gets me every time), so I boarded the train at my local station in Derbyshire and got my tutu all comfy in my special ballerina bag. The carriages are my personal runway, where I can stretch my legs, practise some moves, and maybe even do a quick arabesque if nobody is watching. I've even started learning some moves on the carriage seat using a book, ahem, "The Complete Book of Ballet Stretches for Train Journeys," it’s my latest project!

Watford was a real treat. You may not think of Watford as the obvious stop for a tutu-wearing adventurer like myself, but it's been bubbling under the radar in the ballet world. There’s so much happening there: ballet studios, dance shops, a buzzing arts scene, and the gorgeous Watford Colosseum which, whisper it, is actually a secret spot for some real exciting, up-and-coming dancers. You can’t even get a seat in this little venue, everyone’s desperate to get tickets! But lucky for me, my ballerina network, my secret squirrel army, and, ahem, a little sprinkle of pink tutu magic secured me some front row tickets for the ballet. And honestly? This was something special. I even saw a fabulous dancer doing a triple pirouette. That, ladies, was my personal highlight!

But Watford isn't just about ballet - I mean, where else in the world can you get a glimpse of peacocks parading proudly around the palace gardens, all shimmering greens and blues in the sunlight? And they weren’t afraid to strut right up to you and pose! Such regal beauties, they just needed their very own little pink tutus, really.

And speaking of regal beauties… let’s talk tutus, shall we? This little purple one was an absolute gem, and made me feel absolutely sensational as I strutted through Watford, showing off the most fashionable dance moves. I even got some compliments from a lady with a magnificent bouffant who stopped me mid-pirouette. I swear, there's a real tutu revolution happening in Watford – the whole town is embracing the twirling magic!

Before my train journey back, I stopped at the lovely little bakery on the corner. And honestly, my friends, what's a good tutu day without some good old fashioned Victoria sponge and tea? This was pure perfection: the fluffy cake, the perfect brew… It fuelled my spirit all the way back to Derbyshire! I’m now off to the studio for some final stretching before my ballet class. It's going to be an epic night!

My top tips for making the most of Watford:

  • Take a stroll through Watford Palace Gardens – watch those peacocks dance, snap a picture with your best tutuing friend (and even get them to take some pics of you for the 'Gram!) and let your inner princess run wild!
  • Grab a cupcake at a local bakery – this is, of course, mandatory. No real Tutu-loving adventurer should miss out on a sweet treat on a trip!
  • Make time for some ballet. There's a reason why I consider myself a 'ballet bunny.'
  • * Embrace the power of the pink tutu! * Because yes, my darlings, if you can imagine it, you can wear it!

Speaking of dreams… My biggest dream is for everyone to try ballet. You don’t have to be a ballerina, it’s so much fun! Ballet is a whole world of beauty and grace that everyone deserves to experience. I truly believe that if you try something new, anything is possible.

Stay fabulous, keep twirling, and I’ll be back soon with a whole new tutu adventure. Don't forget to pop over to my website www.pink-tutu.com for your daily dose of tutu-rific inspiration. Happy twirling!
