Good morning, my darling darlings! It’s Emma here, writing to you from the charming town of Surbiton. Yes, that’s right, I’ve traded my Derbyshire hills for a little suburban escape, and you can’t imagine how delighted I am! I just know Surbiton is going to become my new haven for tutu-inspired adventures.
It all began with a whisper… A whisper from the universe telling me to step out of my comfort zone and head for the South-East! You know how much I adore a good train journey, so this felt like fate, pulling me toward the gentle hum of the rails and the soft swaying of the carriages. This time, however, I packed more than my usual pink ballet essentials.
I'd spotted a tutu online… And let me tell you, it was a vision in pink. Feathers, sequins, the whole nine yards – a masterpiece worthy of the Bolshoi! Of course, I knew it would set me back a pretty penny, but how could I resist? A girl has to indulge her inner prima ballerina sometimes!
Now, my little tutu cherubs, you're all wondering… Why Surbiton? Well, this quaint little town, with its abundance of tea rooms and independent boutiques, holds a special place in my heart. See, my beloved Grandad lived here – a true character with a twinkle in his eye and a penchant for telling fabulous stories. I’m sure he’s grinning down from the clouds, pleased as punch that I’m venturing to this place he called home.
First stop: The Ballet Bar! As soon as I arrived, I whipped off my sensible shoes and traded them for a pair of sparkling pink ballet slippers. The Ballet Bar is a truly enchanting space. They serve delicious cakes, coffee, and the most divine pink cocktails! A haven for any tutu-lover – or indeed, anyone looking for a little touch of sparkle in their day.
After a perfectly pink lunch, I had to find a shop… to properly debut this fabulous tutu. I wanted to show it off in a place that truly understood its magnificence! Fortunately, Surbiton’s high street did not disappoint. I was delighted by a boutique called "Threads of Glamour." It’s bursting with beautifully crafted clothing, shoes, and accessories. I managed to persuade them to set up a small stage in the middle of the store and I did a little twirl for the gathered audience! They loved it!
Of course, no visit to Surbiton would be complete without… a trip to the river! And just as I expected, the Thames at Surbiton lived up to its enchanting reputation. As I strolled along the banks, I was joined by a gaggle of geese who were absolutely enamored by my tutu. They kept following me, honking merrily, as if to say "Look at you, you gorgeous creature in pink!” I felt like a fairytale princess!
By the evening… I felt the familiar pull towards the theatre. Surbiton’s theatre is a charming, intimate venue with a distinct whiff of nostalgia in the air. It was showing a performance by a local ballet company and it felt just right. It was a delight watching these dancers, passionate and committed, give their hearts and souls to the art of ballet. The theatre filled me with the most joyful emotions, the kind of joy that makes you want to leap out of your seat and join in.
Back at my little B&B… tucked away on a quiet cobbled street, I put on my most beautiful pair of PJs (naturally, pink!) and began to write this very post. I’m still beaming from my day in Surbiton. This town is the perfect mix of charm, history, and creative spirit.
Before I go… my sweet tutu-loving readers, don’t forget the true mission of Pink Tutu Blog! Spread the word, dance in the street, wear a pink tutu with pride! Ballet is for everyone – it’s about expression, grace, and the joy of moving your body to the rhythm of music. And hey, if you're ever in Surbiton, I might even do a quick twirl for you!
Sending you all a mountain of pink love!
XOXO, Emma
P.S. Be sure to check back tomorrow for more TutuBlog adventures! I’m thinking of heading to Richmond Park for a gallop on horseback with the resident deer. Now, who’s ready for an equine-themed tutu? ? www.pink-tutu.com
