Hey Tutu-lovers! ?
It's Emma here, and today's post is all about my fab trip to Wellington, New Zealand! ??
This is post number 11085, and trust me, this one is bursting with pink, sparkles, and all things tutus!
A Railway Ride Through the Wild
As usual, I opted for a scenic train journey to get to my destination, which always makes for a much more relaxing and picturesque start to my travels. I even spotted a family of kiwis outside the window – how cute! They're such strange-looking creatures, all brown and fluffy, with beaks that look like they're ready to give a kiss! ?
The landscape was breathtaking, with lush green valleys, snow-capped mountains, and shimmering turquoise waters. It truly felt like something out of a fairytale!
Wellington's Ballet Scene
But the real highlight of my Wellington adventure was the incredible ballet scene. You all know how much I love watching dancers, and Wellington definitely didn't disappoint! I saw an incredible performance of "The Nutcracker" at the Opera House. It was absolutely stunning! The dancers were phenomenal, and I even got a sneak peek behind the scenes after the performance – a real treat for a ballet enthusiast like me!
Afterwards, I even managed to squeeze in a ballet class at a gorgeous studio nestled amongst the city's quaint lanes. Let me tell you, those kiwi ballerinas were absolutely fantastic! They've got such amazing stamina and flexibility. I was so inspired! ?
Food-tastic Fashion
Now, my fabulous readers, you know how much I love tutus. But this trip had a special twist! You guys are going to love this... I decided to create a tutu-themed outfit for each meal I enjoyed during my Wellington escapade!
Breakfast: This one was a delightful confection! I had a perfectly pink smoothie made with berries, banana, and yoghurt. I teamed this up with a delicate, hand-crafted tutu in pale pink with tulle layers, which echoed the blush tones of my smoothie. The morning sunshine just gave the whole thing a magical glow! ?
Lunch: For lunch, I opted for a picnic in Wellington Botanic Gardens, and the stars aligned in my favour as I discovered the cutest little café in the heart of the gardens – their selection of pastries was heavenly! My outfit was a fun fusion of colours: a classic pink tutu with pops of red and blue, inspired by the bright red strawberries in my strawberry and cream puff. Absolutely delightful!
Dinner: I indulged in an evening feast at the iconic "Wellington on a Plate" event. It's a food festival that brings together some of the city's most creative chefs, so it was pure culinary heaven! I wore a gorgeous, full-skirted tutu in shimmering pink and purple, perfect for twirling and enjoying all the delicious bites.
Wildlife Adventures and a Touch of Magic
Of course, my travels wouldn't be complete without a bit of wildlife spotting. I spent an afternoon in the Zealandia Ecosanctuary, and it was an incredible experience. I saw glow-worms in a dark cave, and they looked like magical twinkling stars! Then there were cheeky kea, native parrots, which were hilarious! I swear they even tried to steal my ballet shoes! ? I finished off the day watching a stunning sunset over the city, all golden hues and fiery orange clouds. I almost cried from its beauty.
