TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind of 1883!
Post #2664 - 16th January, 1883 - www.pink-tutu.com
Oh my darling dears! Fancy meeting you here! I've just travelled back to 1883, a gloriously fashionable year full of charming bonnets and billowing skirts! As a true aficionado of all things tutu, you know I just have to tell you all about it!
My train ride from Derbyshire was absolutely divine. A gentle rocking motion, the rhythmic chuffing of the engine, and I had a lovely seat overlooking the passing scenery. Oh, and of course, I made sure to wear my latest creation - a pink tutu made of layers and layers of silk and tulle, perfect for a twirl through the Victorian countryside!
Speaking of twirls, my arrival in the city felt just like a pirouette, oh darling! Today is January 16th, and in 1883, everyone's getting excited about the new year, ready to welcome all the upcoming dances and social events. Imagine all the lovely balls and gatherings, just overflowing with beautiful, twirling ladies in their lovely gowns, their hems swirling with every dance move!
But darling, imagine this… What if, instead of gowns, everyone donned tutus? It's a thought that makes me swoon, wouldn't it be glorious? My favourite pink tutu with a matching feather boa would fit perfectly into the fashionable landscape of 1883! The pink, the sparkle, the romance, it's a perfect match for all things Victorian!
Just a little while ago I popped into a charming shop called "La Belle Couture" - such a charming name, isn't it? - where I spotted the most stunning dancewear imaginable! Their costumes, darling, were just exquisite, they must have taken hours of hand-stitching. Imagine being able to wear such a beautiful creation and glide through the streets, oh my! It would be just perfect.
Oh, my dears, do you know what I found in the shop's back room? It was a treasure trove! A collection of old tutus, delicate, gauzy, with beautiful frills, so well-made! It reminded me of my first ever tutu – remember I told you it was a family heirloom from the early 1800s! I felt so connected to these lovely remnants of the past. It felt like being in the presence of history! I had to snap a few pictures, but I promise you I wouldn't steal any. After all, they belong to the past.
Anyway, what a journey it's been! It is such an incredible time for fashion and creativity, wouldn’t you say? The elegance of 1883 just makes my heart skip a beat, I even saw a couple of ladies dancing in their bonnets. Maybe one day we could all be wearing tutus? How marvellous it would be if we could all take a little of this magical feeling and bring it to our lives. Imagine it, dears: a world filled with twirls and happy laughter. Isn’t that something to look forward to?
So, that's it for today! Until next week, when we'll explore more #TutuTuesday history. Remember to spread the joy of pink tutus, my dears! Let’s get twirling!
