#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back in Time to 1891! 🩰

Hello lovelies, and welcome to #TutuTuesday! This week, we're taking a little trip back in time to 1891 - can you believe it? That's over 130 years ago, a whole era before sequins became the de rigeur dance wear we know and love today! 😉 As always, you can find more fabulous tutu history on my site, www.pink-tutu.com, this post is number 3112 in my collection.

You'll never believe how many lovely trains I've taken to reach this week's time travel destination! 🚄 But, as you know, it's all worth it when I get to immerse myself in the incredible world of ballet history, right?

Now, 1891… It was a different time, wasn’t it? But you know what, tutus were already a thing! Yes, they weren’t as grand as those we wear nowadays with their voluminous skirts and extravagant designs. You see, back in the day, they were still finding their feet, figuratively speaking of course! 😂

Let’s have a peek, shall we? Imagine if you will, beautiful ballerinas dancing gracefully in skirts made of tulle… a light and delicate fabric. That’s what they used back then! 🤫 No heavy silk, no sparkly embellishments. They had to rely on the dancer’s skill and elegance to make it absolutely captivating, and you know, it worked perfectly!

Speaking of captivated audiences, imagine being in a packed theatre in 1891, the gaslights casting an alluring glow, and… you know it – I'm actually in the audience today, the perfect place to find a little inspiration for a blog post. You have to try it at least once in your lifetime, and luckily for me, my time-traveling wardrobe can hold my pink tulle tutu – as the perfect, eye-catching, pink explosion to enhance the experience! 😊 It's a little bit of pink magic from the future – you should see the look on everyone's faces! 🤩

And just what can you see tonight? You know what I love - a ballet by Tchaikovsky, I could never resist a little “Swan Lake,” now, wouldn't that be a delight for our eyes? It’s one of those enduring ballets that has stood the test of time, even way back then in 1891. It truly was magical. I could barely keep my little feet still for the whole performance! It was enchanting! 😍

But as I've told you all before, the journey is just as exciting as the destination, especially when I can take a lovely train! That's how I travelled today, my friends. I couldn’t resist a peek at London’s fashion houses as I arrived in the big city today! Imagine all the fascinating colours and designs that they might have on display! Oh, the inspiration I soaked up just from a walk around! 💖

Of course, I'll be heading straight to the shop tomorrow. No one can blame a girl for looking for a pretty pink tulle while they are in London, wouldn’t you agree? I think I might have just found my new tutu inspiration... I just can't wait to put a spin on it! 🤩

Let’s see, the date is the 18th August, 1891. I am really enjoying a slice of time back here! What do you have in your diaries? What are you planning for this weekend, dear reader? What outfit will you put together, I’m dying to know, so please send me all your pictures on my Instagram, follow me @PinkTutuEmma. 😊

Do send me a postcard to let me know. As usual, if you'd like to know more about the history of ballet or any aspect of fashion from days gone by, you can visit my website - www.pink-tutu.com! Remember, every day can be #TutuTuesday! 💖

I can't wait to show you my finds and get to next Tuesday!

Until then, stay chic, and keep those tutus twirling! 😘
