#TutuTuesday: A Journey Back to 1913! (Post #4258)

Hello darling tutus and welcome back to Pink Tutu! It's a glorious #TutuTuesday and this week we're travelling back in time!

Let me tell you, I love to travel. My trips through history are a real blast. It's quite a privilege, I must admit. And it all gets funded by, you guessed it - ballet! Whether I'm performing in some dazzling costume or wowing the crowds in the stalls at a theatre in Paris or London, I make sure my time travels are fabulously glamorous!

Anyway, today we are journeying all the way back to August the 5th, 1913!

Grab your ballet shoes, darlings, as we step onto the stage for this fascinating dance into the past. It’s going to be an absolute whirlwind.

The Wonderful World of Ballet 1913:

Can you imagine, the tutus, the stage, the elegant dance? Even in 1913, ballet was absolutely magical, and that is why my Tutu Tuesdays go all the way back to 1910 for these blog posts. Oh the beautiful dance forms and the grand costumes!

Back in 1913, Paris and London were just overflowing with amazing ballet performances. Think Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and even some totally innovative pieces!

You might think it was all just "swans and tutus," but there was so much more happening in 1913! There were fantastic dancers with beautiful grace and artistry plus those amazing and intricate tutus with shimmering fabric and elegant lines. Talk about drama and grandeur, darling!

I absolutely love to study how ballet changed over time, like the colours and styles in tutus. We need to be fashionable, right?

A Trip to London and Paris!

The 5th of August, 1913 - I imagine London bustling with energy as folks strolled about on a lovely summer day, stopping for a spot of tea and some light chatter! It’s summertime in the UK. Gorgeous and just lovely.

We need to jump over the English Channel - hop on a lovely train and be whisked off to the French Capital! Paris, my darling, how we do love you! Imagine cobblestone streets and chic cafes, oh those Parisian cafes just overflowing with people! They all had their own fashion, just the most beautiful fabrics. The fashion then had so much charm!

The World of Ballet, Right Here in My Heart!

As you know my darlings, I love it all from the performance to the dressing rooms! What could be more wonderful? I can almost smell the makeup, hear the orchestra tuning, and even the chatter of the backstage crew! You know it’s what makes ballet come alive - every little bit is special!

This journey to the 5th August 1913 was amazing - so full of dance, theatre and, well, tutus of course. Even though I live in Derbyshire and am very fond of it - London and Paris are truly breathtaking. There’s just magic in those cities. *

My tutu collection just keeps on growing! You should know, darlings, that one day I hope every single one of you will find yourself with a pink tutu that you love. It might be hard but who knows, maybe it could just happen with Pink Tutu!

Please share your thoughts in the comments! What are some of your favourite ballet pieces? And did you know, August 5th is a really big day for someone - the queen of the silver screen! Yes, you’ve guessed it, *Marilyn Monroe was born on August 5th, 1926! A little side step there - but *oh darling, what a fashion icon, too!

Now you’ve heard about the wonderful history of tutus! I’m off for another adventure - it's looking like we'll have to head back to 1962, darling! Who wants to come along and see some amazing costumes? Join us next Tuesday!
