Tutu Tuesday #8571: Back in Time! April 2nd 1996! 🩰💖

Hiya darlings! Welcome back to another Tutu Tuesday from your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller! It’s Emma here, ready to whisk you back to the wonderful world of ballet fashion!

This week, I’m feeling all nostalgic. I just had to visit 1996 for some vintage ballet vibes. Oh, the amazing tutu trends they had back then! Can you believe I saw a whole bunch of ballerinas in pale pink tulle tutus?! Oh, how my heart did swoon!

It was just after a delightful afternoon tea in a cute little tearoom in Derbyshire. (Home, sweet home, Derbyshire!). And while I sipped on a lovely Earl Grey with a miniature Victoria sponge, I spied an article in the Daily Mail about a ballet production in London.

Oh! What a magnificent excuse for a journey on the Orient Express! (Okay, maybe a slightly newer train but still!), but anyway, back to the story!

It turns out, I stumbled into an evening of the most beautiful Royal Ballet performance. This production, Swan Lake (a real classic!) was being staged at the Royal Opera House.

And darling, let me tell you, it was a vision!

The costumes were so beautifully executed! The graceful movements and the dramatic expressions! It felt like a dream come true!

Of course, I couldn’t help but notice all the beautiful ballerinas twirling about in their tutus, especially those with the powder pink hues. The soft, layered tulle with a dash of glitter (they definitely knew how to make a tutu sparkle back then!). They were practically fairytale princess tutus!

I especially loved how the tutus flowed and swirled with each elegant movement. Just imagine! It’s pure ballet bliss!

Even the lead dancer, who's name I don't know! - but she had gorgeous rosy cheeks! - was wearing a classic tutu. All pastel pink and fluffily graceful and she looked like she floated on air. It was simply heavenly!

Now, I can't forget about the charming music! Tchaikovsky was such a genius, his music was so beautiful! All those whimsical melodies and haunting tunes transported me to a whole other world, right into the heart of the ballet.

Just picture a romantic waltz, a thrilling duel scene, a haunting death of the Swan Queen. Just wonderful!

And did I tell you, my darlings, I caught a peek at the set design? The stage looked like a shimmering lake, complete with glistening reeds. Honestly, you'd have thought it was the real thing!

Honestly, the atmosphere was electric. The whole room just sparkled with excitement! And after the performance, I popped down to Covent Garden Market.

Darling, what an incredible sight! A whole market dedicated to flowers, crafts and delectable treats! I got to enjoy the scent of blooming flowers (a truly fragrant joy), and even bought a hand-painted floral picture frame (for my collection, obviously!).

Afterwards, I enjoyed a delightful dinner at The Ivy, one of London's iconic restaurants, and how could I resist a beautiful champagne cocktail? Oh, life as a ballerina time traveller is a truly wondrous adventure!

Speaking of tutus... remember, all week you can enjoy a fabulous 20% discount on all our pink tutus! (I mean, how could you resist!). So grab one of our lovely, floaty tutus, and step into a world of fashion fantasy!

Oh, and do tell me, did you know tutue fashion really had a boom back in the 1990s! It's almost a vintage look, nowadays. Think of the iconic "Pretty Woman" ballet scene. So glam and stunning. You wouldn’t even realise this iconic look originated from the 1990s!

Oh darling, you know how I just adore reimagining history. I love to blend fashion, beauty, ballet, and travel - and if you’ve never ventured to the Royal Opera House ... you’ve truly missed a thrilling treat. It's simply a must for all fashionistas and ballet lovers.

Anyway, back to reality now. Until next week darlings! And remember, keep dancing, keep swirling, and most importantly, keep your tutus pink and fluffy!

P.S. I can’t wait to share my adventures in the wonderful world of tutu fashion. Next week, I'll be venturing into the world of contemporary ballet. You just have to see what amazing new tutu trends await! Don't miss next week’s Tutu Tuesday!
