As I shimmy my way onto the train (I must confess, I adore a good train journey - the chuffing of the engine is like a gentle lullaby), I'm buzzing with excitement. You see, Edgware is a new territory for me, and I can already picture myself twinkling in my most flamboyant pink tutu.
You might be wondering, dear reader, how I find myself in this wonderful world of sparkly sequins and grand pronouncements. Well, it all started a while back, way back in the days of my Derbyshire upbringing, a simpler time of school uniforms and GCSE exams. (I still miss those strawberry tarts, but the thought of year-round chemistry class does give me chills, let's not kid ourselves!) But then came university, where fate – or perhaps a good bottle of pink Prosecco - introduced me to my very own sparkly destiny. You see, I was part of the university ballet club, you know, the type of place where people twirl with an almost reckless abandon and where the colour pink is celebrated like a deity.
One afternoon, I was helping out with a fundraising event. You see, dear reader, at the time I was trying to embrace a sense of altruism and charity - all part of that university “do good” mission, you see. I remember a huge rack of vintage clothing - so glamorous! Suddenly, the pink tutus called to me, a siren's call from another dimension! In that moment, I knew... This was me. This was the way to be.
Since then, I have made it my life's mission (one sparkling sequin at a time) to share the joy of pink tutus with the world. And it seems to be working. Just look around you, lovelies, tutus are becoming a fashion trend - a testament to my brilliant work, I must say. Even celebrities, those high-profile, A-list people, are now proudly embracing the tutu.
Don't be surprised if one day, darling reader, even YOU will be wearing a pink tutu. It's all about the transformation, about feeling your most radiant self! Oh, the thrill of it! (And yes, darling, I will take the pink one, it goes with everything!)
Anyway, as I continue to journey towards Edgware, a small twinge of nerves begins to bubble in my chest (what if they haven't heard of the magic that is Pink Tutu Sparkles?), but it's quickly swept away by the excitement of the impending show! After all, it's a new crowd, a new venue - and a brand new opportunity to share my passion with the world. My plan is simple: I’m going to sashay my way into the night, sparkle harder than a diamond on the stage, and leave everyone feeling just a little bit more fabulous. Oh, to think about all the people who will see me in my most magnificent, blush-pink tutu. Every step I take, a masterpiece of confidence.

*Oh, darlings! I simply have to share the highlights from my show last night. First of all, Edgware was INCREDIBLE! The energy was so positive and the crowd so enthusiastic, it felt like the entire town was in on my secret pink tutu magic! *
But before I tell you all about the performance itself, I have to share a little about my pre-show ritual, the backstage preparation, you know, the things that make Pink Tutu Sparkles shine!
The Pink Tutu Prep
Oh darling, getting ready for a performance is more than just putting on a dress and a smile. There is an art to it, a magic that starts from the moment I step out of my apartment, a certain finesse that creates a world where pink tutus reign supreme! It's almost a ritual - and don’t even think about getting the sequin placement wrong! I just cannot tolerate that kind of disorder. (Luckily, my good friend and hairdresser extraordinaire, Chloe, always makes sure that my hair is on point! We are like a dream team – we understand each other’s sparkles!).
As I step into my glam wardrobe, I am suddenly transported to a different realm, a shimmering pink heaven, full of the most breathtaking gowns, sparkling sequined bodices and enough pink to make you weep with joy! This, darlings, is my world - where my creative dreams transform into reality, one glitter bomb at a time.
The Hair: It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles show without the perfect hair. Oh, the volume, the height, the volume of pink fluff and the delicate detail... My trusty hairspray is always my trusty side-kick - its power to hold even the most adventurous style, just another reason why Pink Tutu Sparkles reigns supreme!
The Make-Up: It is not merely about making the face pretty – it's about crafting a persona, telling a story with my make-up brushes and pink blush, creating an ethereal beauty that whispers to the audience, “You too can wear pink tutus!”.
The Dress: And last, but certainly not least, the tutu! Now, darling, the right pink tutu for the job is crucial – some are for high kicks, some for sassy stomps, others for dramatic waltzes... it all depends on the dance number! Choosing my pink tutu is an act of passion, like selecting the perfect glass slipper! And for my Edgware performance, I knew just what I wanted – a dazzling pink with iridescent sequins and a little dash of glittery magic, all wrapped up in layers of fabulousness. It was everything I had ever dreamed of, and a statement of ultimate confidence - “This is me!”.
Then I sashayed into my final pre-show ritual...the obligatory backstage photograph...because what’s a pink-tutu loving drag queen without her fabulous self-portraits? **Okay, now for the show… you won't believe the magic that happened in Edgware! And here, darling reader, is what you simply must know:
**It was a night of ‘Pink-tastic’ performance! The entire audience, well, everyone was enraptured by Pink Tutu Sparkles' unique brand of magic – a mix of comedy, musical theater, a little bit of sparkle, and enough pink tutus to last a lifetime!
- **I shared my story. My life, in the realm of Pink Tutu Sparkles, unfolded for everyone. The shy little Derbyshire girl, the student, the lab technician. I am all of them – my pink tutu is like my costume, but also like a passport to who I really am. And in this moment, they were seeing my authentic self...my journey. My sparkle!
**Pink tutu mayhem ensued – an energetic medley of songs, dances and routines, and even a fabulous choreographed number with members of the audience! It was heartwarming and joyous. We all embraced the pink tutus in a joyous burst of collective silliness!
The crowd's roar! Oh my god, you can't even imagine! Every single time I stepped into a pose, or winked at someone in the front row, a wave of cheers, whistles and thunderous applause roared from the audience!
And after the show, darling reader, the magic continued! I signed autographs (you'll never guess how many tutus I promised to deliver!) and met all the amazing people who came to see my show. Everyone was buzzing and chatting about their own favorite pink-tutu-themed adventures - and wouldn't you know it, some had even secretly taken my pink tutu challenge and come in pink tutus! Oh darling, this is how we build the future!
A Pink-tastic Time to RememberOh, Edgware, you made me fall in love with your energy, your embrace and your ability to just... let go, embrace the sparkles and revel in the joy of pink tutus! But my journey doesn't stop there - the future holds many exciting stops along the way. New towns, new venues, and who knows - maybe even my very own pink tutu theater production (what could be more fabulous?). But no matter where the stage takes me, one thing will always be constant - my love of all things pink, and my desire to share it with everyone in a way that is joyous, celebratory and fun!
