Blog Post Number 517 - 31st May 2001 - www.pink-tutu.com

Darlings, buckle up your sequins and get ready for a dazzling trip to London town! Your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles is about to spill all the tea on her latest adventures in the capital of fabulousness. This is post number 517 for those of you just joining us.

Now, let's be honest, a trip to London is never just a trip, it's a symphony of shimmering delights! You've got your historic sights, your world-class shopping, your thrilling theatre scene... and you can't forget the oh-so-fabulous ballet performances! It was the ballet, my dears, that drew me in this time. A new show at the Royal Opera House – my dream location - and Pink Tutu Sparkles wouldn't miss it for all the rhinestones in the world.

First, let's chat about how I got here. Forget those mundane cars and buses, darlings! I embarked on my London journey in style, nestled amongst the plush velvet seats of a gorgeous steam train. You know how much I adore a good old-fashioned journey. The chugging, the clickety-clack, the delicious smell of wood-fired coal – it's like stepping back in time.

My outfit? Well, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles journey without a splash of pink and a generous helping of tulle, would it? I settled for a soft, rose-tinted, tutu – the ultimate travel ensemble for comfort and style. The train journey provided the perfect backdrop for a touch of drama. Just imagine - the sunlight cascading through the windows illuminating my pinkness and creating a halo of shimmering sparkle.

My arrival in London was met with an outpouring of adulation. The crowds gathered around, eyes wide with awe as I sashayed off the train, my voluminous tutu billowing in the breeze. (The air here is a bit more polluted than Derbyshire, not to worry my dears - my delicate little lungs have recovered beautifully.)

My first stop was Harrods. Honestly, I feel like this iconic department store is custom built for a Pink Tutu Sparkles. From the moment I stepped into the opulent foyer, a sense of joyful hysteria filled me. I felt an irresistible pull to the accessories department - and oh, the sparkling, glittering, glorious things that beckoned me! I couldn't resist treating myself to a pair of emerald green glittering gloves. Just the thing for a performance in this magnificent city. I then continued my pilgrimage to Liberty - it’s simply a must for any fashion-conscious darling visiting London. Their window displays are always a sight to behold, a riot of colour and pattern. I always get lost amongst the gorgeous clothes, textures, and scents of the most incredible fabrics. And then of course, I couldn't leave without a souvenir - a silk scarf in a colour as pink as a candy floss.

Now, let’s move onto the true highlight of this trip – the Royal Opera House. I have been dying to see the new show ever since I read about it in my favourite ballet magazine. It's a contemporary work, set to an original score, and just thinking about the delicate steps, the emotive choreography, and the magnificent costumes... it sent a shiver of excitement right down to my pink tippy toes!

And what did Pink Tutu Sparkles wear for such an important occasion? You know it! My new sparkling pink tutu, naturally! I spent ages getting it perfect - it needs to be fluffy and voluminous enough for my grand entrances, and I had to strategically place the sparkly fabric to catch the lights! (You’d be surprised at how tricky it can be!) And wouldn’t you know it - the lights shone on Pink Tutu Sparkles as if she had planned it!

After a dazzling display of beauty and grace, it was time for a little backstage chat with some of the talented dancers. I had so much fun talking to them about their passion, their commitment to the craft, and – of course – their tutus! As you know, darling, for me, a tutu is more than just an item of clothing, it's an embodiment of grace, magic, and dreams. It’s like a superpower, empowering me to inspire everyone around me to embrace their inner spark and unleash their joy on the world. And let’s be honest, even those gorgeous ballerinas looked a bit jealous of my fabulousness.

After the show, I felt energized, inspired, and oh so ready to take on the rest of London. I must tell you, I ended up joining in a late night ballet class on a rooftop overlooking the River Thames, and you can imagine the sights and sounds. There's no feeling like the rush of adrenaline you get from mastering a difficult turn in your sparkly tutu under a million stars - or is it twirling under the lights? Either way, my dears, it's an experience!

It wasn't all tutus and tiaras though, my darlings. London is also about delicious delights. I dined like a queen, from afternoon tea with dainty sandwiches and endless pots of tea to traditional fish and chips at a little local cafe that had the most beautiful floral arrangements on the tables. I even ventured out into the night, dancing until the sun rose over the city.

Speaking of rising, this journey to London was an enchanting mix of elegance and energy. A true testament to the boundless wonder of life. Now, you know I’m always searching for a way to spread a little bit of magic wherever I go, to remind everyone that it's okay to wear your heart on your sleeve – or in my case, a glorious, flamboyant, pink tutu. After all, life is just a big, beautiful stage waiting for you to make a grand entrance.

So, my darlings, keep shining, stay sparkly, and don’t forget to wear your pink tutu – even when you’re not dancing in a world-renowned opera house. Because darling, every day is a new chance to turn heads and embrace the joy that only a good dose of sparkle can bring.

See you next time, darlings, for even more fabulous fun on Pink-tutu.com!

Love, Pink Tutu Sparkles x
