Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from sunny Worthing! It's a beautiful day, the sea air is nippy, but I'm bundled up in my sparkly pink puffer coat, my favourite pink beret on my head, and of course, my fabulous pink tutu, just as vibrant as the blooming pink roses in the gardens I walked past on the way to my performance venue.
It's been a long journey down here, a real adventure! I decided to travel in style this time, opting for a thrilling horse-drawn carriage ride, what a treat! I absolutely love horses, their graceful strides, their intelligent eyes, the way they move with such fluidity, it’s almost like they’re dancing! You just have to take a minute to appreciate these majestic creatures. They whisked me down to the train station and after a quick trip to grab a strawberry ice cream (did you know, darling, it's national strawberry week? A treat indeed!) I jumped on the train, it was a real joyride, especially with my new pink fluffy head scarf keeping me warm. It's a wonderful journey, you really see so much, so many different landscapes and communities. I took photos out of the window – what a backdrop, I have so many potential future posts bubbling with inspiration!
I adore discovering new places, but it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles journey without a little fashion spree, darling! We simply cannot be anywhere without a visit to a charming vintage boutique. In fact, this was my first stop! Oh my, the treasure I found! A truly fabulous silk pink evening gown, a real vintage dream. Perfect for this summer's upcoming balls! I'm already imagining it, a cascade of shimmering silk, pink and vibrant, with my signature pink tutu layered beneath.
And let's not forget, my dear, Worthing is renowned for its beautiful beaches. After my shopping excursion, I strolled along the promenade, basking in the sunshine and taking in the salty sea air, the beautiful expanse of sand. It’s so tranquil, calming, invigorating – it inspires so much creativity in me, I practically had to pull myself away from my artistic visioning to prepare for the show!
The venue was enchanting, filled with locals who looked like they were ready to be dazzled. There were families, groups of friends, couples - everyone was dressed to the nines, their faces sparkling with anticipation, and a hint of that special excitement, that sparkle only a live performance brings. You can feel the energy!
My set, dear readers, was all about pink tutus and sparkly joy. Imagine this, the stage aglow in a rosy light, me dressed in a pink sequinned jumpsuit, a flowing pink feather boa gently caressing my arms, the iconic pink tutu crowning it all, with enough sparkles to rival the starlit sky!
I twirled and danced to some of my favorite show tunes, my heart leaping with joy as the audience erupted in cheers and applause. It’s amazing how even when it seems we have such contrasting routines, with me in my day-job in a lab surrounded by fabrics, testing their wear and tear, and then this explosion of vibrant colour, the stage life, we both work together to bring out this joy, this happiness, this… magic, to put a smile on people's faces! And for me, there's nothing more magical, nothing more exhilarating than seeing my message spread - wear your pink tutus with confidence, embrace your true self, let your inner sparkle shine!
After my performance, the patrons gathered around, giggling, taking pictures, complimenting my stunning outfits! I adore meeting my audience, feeling their excitement and energy, it’s truly heartwarming! They asked me about my inspirations, how I became a performer, they were even taking selfies with me.
Then it was time to grab a quick bite. My friend, Dolly (we’ve been pals for ages! She was at university with me, so you know it's true: I didn’t get obsessed with tutus just because of drag, we’ve had an unhealthy obsession for years! ), met me in the courtyard to catch up on all the adventures of the day and of course, to indulge in a truly glorious vegan cupcake (it’s a tough job being a pink tutu queen, so you must find time for those sugary treats! Who knew it was so difficult to live a lifestyle like mine? Honestly!).
As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow across the town, we meandered along the Worthing pier. It's so magical at night, with the lights illuminating the water, it truly captures that Victorian charm that Worthing’s known for.
The evening was filled with more laughs, sharing anecdotes about our adventures in life and drag. Dolly always knows how to make me laugh until my sides hurt. But of course, there's no greater joy than spending time with a close friend who shares your love of everything pink and sparkly! You can’t be a true tutu queen without having the most fantastic support system, and luckily for me, Dolly’s got my back!
Finally, with a happy sigh and a heart brimming with contentment, I returned to my lodgings, a sweet, charming little bed and breakfast just a few minutes from the seaside, all done up in pretty pastel shades (naturally, they had pink accents - that was the deal-breaker when choosing where to stay!). I curled up with a glass of my favourite raspberry sparkling drink, settling in to journal my day, to add it to the Pink Tutu archives, a tribute to my own adventures in fabulous fashion and fun. I was excited to see my next day’s adventure.
As the lights of Worthing twinkled around me, I knew this wasn't just any ordinary night, darling! It was a pink-tastic night, filled with sparkly moments and a deep sense of fulfilment. It’s not all glitter and glamour you know, you’ve got to make the best of your life and chase those dreams – but that doesn't mean forgetting to make every day sparkle.
I truly believe that if we can wear pink tutus with pride and joy, and encourage everyone around us to embrace their inner sparkle, we can create a more fabulous, compassionate, and truly joyous world. Because when you think about it, my dears, life's really all about the journey, the moments we share with loved ones, the opportunities to bring a little extra shimmer into our world!
