Strood Sparkle: Post 689! 💖✨

Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It’s your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement because today's adventure took me all the way to Strood, Kent! It was a beautiful, crisp autumn day, and Strood is a quaint, little town steeped in history. Now, my darlings, we all know Strood is not exactly on the usual Drag Circuit, so naturally, I took my beloved Pink Tutu with me and threw on the brightest pink eyeshadow in my kit for this fabulously, girly performance!

Today's performance wasn’t in a swanky theatre, nor a glitzy club, but a fabulous local fair, the Strood Autumn Fun Fair! Think vibrant autumnal colours, big fluffy donuts, cute carnies with games of skill, and enough toffee apples to make your teeth sparkle.

Now, you know your Pink Tutu Queen loves a bit of fairytale whimsy, so I simply adored this setting! Strood Fun Fair gave me the perfect chance to truly embrace my inner-child with a side of extra sparkle. Don't get me wrong, my darlings, a drag queen can never be too grown up for some sugar-coated fun. Let's just say, I might have had more than one, possibly three, caramel apples... a girl needs her sugar, especially when performing!

Speaking of performances, Strood's crowd absolutely loved it! Let's just say there were plenty of ‘Ooohs!’ and ‘Aaahs!’ throughout the show. The stage was a rickety, but wonderfully rustic old flatbed lorry parked in the centre of the fair. I knew that wouldn’t be an easy platform, but the challenge just added a dash of Pink Tutu Sparkle to the whole shebang! I performed a few of my most fabulous, sparkly numbers – "I'm Every Woman," naturally, and even some ballet inspired choreography that went down an absolute treat with the audience. They'd never seen a drag queen twirling en pointe on the back of a flatbed, but hey, that’s what Pink Tutu Sparkles is all about – a sprinkle of sparkle and a whole lotta magic.

And, of course, my grand finale was as always, a complete surprise! Instead of my usual "Pink Tutu Explosion" of glitter cannons, we decided to pull a Strood special. As I bowed low and sang the last line of "My Heart Will Go On" with all the power of Celine, my two lovely backing dancers, Trixie and Sizzle, sprung into action, throwing armfuls of… pink marshmallows into the ecstatic crowd!

It was absolutely bonkers! My darling Trixie, being the comedian she is, had even gone and managed to grab the largest inflatable mallet from the nearby Funhouse! Picture the scene, two gorgeous dancers pelting the audience with soft marshmallows while my fabulous tutu spun around me, the perfect finish to a Strood performance I'll never forget.

Now, darlings, this is Pink Tutu Sparkles, and you know that our adventures don’t just end with a fabulous show! Before heading back to the station, we absolutely had to check out the best things Strood had to offer! A cuppa in a cosy local tea room (with homemade raspberry jam, naturally!) was an absolute must, followed by a cheeky little souvenir from one of the many delightful little shops in the heart of the town.

And, since I just can't get enough pink in my life, you can bet your bottom dollar that I spotted the perfect pink ribbon at a haberdashery shop down a little alleyway. I’m planning a new little project using it for the next show. It's going to be FABULOUS! 😉

Speaking of the train ride back home, it was quite an experience! Imagine, me and my lovely backing dancers, covered head-to-toe in marshmallow dust, squeezed into the first-class carriage, chatting away with other travellers who had clearly never encountered a drag queen in quite this way! One woman, she looked like a teacher, stared at me for a good minute, trying to decipher who or what she was seeing, then said: “Are you a real ballerina? Your twirls were incredible! But I never realised ballerinas wear, well… that!” Bless her heart! A simple question like that makes all my trips to these delightful little towns so worthwhile. Maybe this little Strood fairy tale will encourage some more ladies to pick up a pink tutu.

You know, this journey to Strood felt just like something out of a romantic comedy! All the delightful shops and friendly faces… It’s definitely given me some lovely new inspiration, so much so that I am even thinking about planning a “Strood Style Show,” with a fabulously unique “Pink Tutu Tea Party!” Imagine a tea party on a pink, marshmallow-strewn stage with my gorgeous backing dancers twirling and everyone decked out in pink tutus, even the blokes!

But you know, even in the midst of this delightful experience, the pink tutu queen always makes time for some glamorous shopping! Of course, Strood is not exactly brimming with glittery boudoirs or vintage emporiums, so it was time for a detour! It just wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Sparkle trip without a stop at the glorious Harrods, now, would it?! It’s my happy place, especially this time of year with all those glistening Christmas decorations. It was certainly a welcome dash of London chic amidst my Strood fairytale!

Well, darlings, I'm getting so excited just talking about this trip. Who knows what adventures next week might hold for me! Perhaps we'll venture even further, to places that have never witnessed a drag queen, let alone a Pink Tutu Queen. Stay tuned for more pinkness!

And as always, my lovely readers, remember: A pink tutu is for everyone! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Go on, embrace the colour! Let your sparkle shine, no matter who you are, or where you are! 💖✨

Lots of love and happy sparkles, Pink Tutu Sparkles xox
