My darlings, oh my darlings! Where do I even begin to describe this fabulous weekend? Sutton in Ashfield has stolen my heart – not just with its charming cobblestone streets and historic architecture, but with its incredible energy and a heartwarming embrace that felt like a big, fluffy pink hug!
This journey started, as always, with a touch of magic. I, your beloved Pink Tutu Sparkles, embarked on my adventure by train – the journey is half the fun, and there’s nothing I love more than gazing out of the window, dreaming of sequins and pink clouds as the scenery whips by.
I arrived in Sutton with my trusty trolley suitcase stuffed with enough pink outfits to keep a disco going for a week! Oh, and don't even get me started on the tulle – I’ve got enough to create a giant pink tutu cloud! It's like a ballet dream in a bag.
But before we delve into the glittering delights of Sutton in Ashfield, allow me to share a little bit about my day job. As you may know, by day, I’m Alex, a scientist! Yep, your fabulous Pink Tutu Sparkles is actually a bit of a lab rat... or, perhaps a lab bunny in a tutu, if you will! 🐰💖 You wouldn’t believe the amazing textures and colours I encounter in the world of textiles! But don't worry, it all inspires my drag. My work is my secret weapon, a way to tap into the science of what makes fabrics flow and glitter – knowledge I use to make each Pink Tutu Sparkles outfit a dazzling symphony of fabric and fabulousness!
But back to Sutton. As I made my way through the quaint streets, I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful little boutique tucked away on a corner. It was like a whimsical wonderland! I snagged a stunning pink fascinator with fluffy pink feathers and a sparkly pink bow. It's perfect for adding that extra touch of glamour to my outfits. 👒💖
My main event, though? Well, it was a performance, of course! I graced the stage of the Sutton Town Hall – oh, the glorious red velvet, the stage lights, the excited audience! You could feel the energy in the room like a surge of electricity. I belted out my best rendition of "Dancing Queen," threw some sequins into the crowd, and spun in my pink tutu until the audience went wild! I swear, at that moment, I was a little fairy godmother, spreading glitter and joy wherever I went! 👑
Now, after such a delightful show, one simply needs a spot of tea. And trust me, this wasn’t any ordinary tea party! It was a charming little café on a cobbled street with flower baskets hanging from the windows, a perfectly pink floral tea set, and delicious pink iced cake – you can see where this is going, can't you? The afternoon sunshine dripped in like melted pink sugar and the chatter of the locals created a melody of contentment. 🍰
Before my evening performance, I decided to indulge in a little bit of cultural indulgence - a trip to the Sutton in Ashfield Museum! They have an exhibit on local history, and you wouldn’t believe it – they have a picture of a woman from the 1800s wearing… you guessed it… a tutu! I nearly fainted with excitement! The exhibit even showcased an old fabric sampler featuring pink silk. Imagine – the love for pink and tulle transcends centuries!
As dusk settled and the town twinkled under a starry sky, I found myself at the Sutton Bonington Summer Fair, performing alongside some other fabulous drag artists. The fair was alive with colour, music, laughter, and, of course, more tutus than you could shake a pink feather boa at! There were stalls selling handmade crafts, bouncy castles, even a pie-eating contest – it was utter chaos and utter bliss! 🥧🎊
But alas, all good things must come to an end, even a Pink Tutu Sparkles extravaganza! It was time to pack my sequin-covered suitcase, board my train back to Derbyshire, and get ready for another week of exciting adventures, laboratory experiments, and spreading the pink tutu love – a pink tutu for every body, and every soul, that’s my dream, darlings!
