Hello my darlings! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing diva, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! And oh my stars, do I have a sparkly adventure to tell you about. I’ve just returned from a whirlwind trip to Bootle, a vibrant little town tucked away on the north-west coast of England. As you all know, I live for travel, and exploring new places in my fabulous tutus is a major passion of mine.
This journey was a little bit different, though. Instead of hopping on a train, this time, I had the pleasure of … drumroll, please … travelling by horse. Yes, you heard that right! My lovely friend, Daisy, has a gorgeous, chestnut mare named Belle, who I’ve been smitten with for ages. So, she generously offered to let me ride Belle to Bootle, and how could I refuse such an opportunity?
Let me tell you, it was an experience to remember! Belle is a true princess, so calm and graceful, and her coat is the colour of sunshine. I felt like a queen galloping through the English countryside, a dazzling vision in pink, of course. I had my trusty travel bag slung over my saddle, packed with all the essentials – my favourite glitter glue, my sparkly nail polishes, and a backup tutu, just in case. (You never know what mishaps may occur on a wild adventure!)
But my adventures didn't end there! I arrived in Bootle with enough time to explore before my show at the Bootle Miners’ Club, a beautiful, old hall with a certain kind of vintage charm I find so alluring. They actually have a ballroom floor, so I'll have room to show off my twirls and dips! Speaking of the show… I had the absolute pleasure of performing for the Bootle Ladies' Bowling Club. These lovely women were an absolute joy, so full of laughter and cheer, they truly made me feel like a superstar.
After the performance, the whole club rushed the stage for photos with their own version of 'The Tutu Pose' (that's what we call the sassy pose where you put your hand on your hip, with one foot slightly behind the other. Let me tell you, it’s an instant crowd pleaser). We all laughed and chatted, and I even signed a few tutus (don't worry, they were already pink, and I added some glitter for a touch of sparkles).
Now, no trip to Bootle is complete without visiting The Strand, their delightful shopping street, bursting with character. I bought a stunning pink cashmere shawl and a beguiling hat adorned with tiny sparkling feathers, perfect for adding that extra oomph to any outfit. And, naturally, I popped into a local ballet studio called "En Pointe," to pick up a new leotard. The lovely owner let me borrow one of their ballet books for the night. Oh, the dreamy memories of being young, free, and leaping through the air…
I must tell you about the fantastic food. The "Fish & Chips Cafe" served up a massive portion of fish, so crispy and golden. And let's not forget the chocolate! A quaint little confectionary shop called “The Sweet Spot" offered delicious pralines and the most delightful cream cakes, which I simply had to try. It’s amazing how many different flavors a humble cream cake can have, and oh, that whipped cream! Pure decadence.
Before I knew it, it was time to make my way back home. I bid farewell to the beautiful Bootle, leaving behind a trail of pink tutus and happy faces. My heart was full of warm memories of dancing under a moonlit sky, sipping tea in cozy cafes, and chatting with lovely local folks.
The ride back to Derbyshire with Belle was a tranquil one, bathed in the soft light of dawn. As the sun climbed higher, it seemed to whisper secrets to the clouds above. It reminded me that adventure lies not only in the journey, but also in the people we meet and the places we explore.
