Shenley Brook End: Tutu Adventures in the Shires! (Blog Post #1793)

Darlings, gather round, for today's journey takes us to the heart of the English countryside, to the charming village of Shenley Brook End! This was not your average TutuQueen adventure, no siree! This was a day of unexpected delights, delightful encounters, and, of course, plenty of twirling.

My dear readers, you know how much I love my trains! There's something so magical about them, a feeling of journey, adventure, and possibility all rolled into one. It's a proper British experience, you know? Tea with scones, the gentle clickety-clack of the wheels, and the scenery flashing by as you make your way towards an exciting new destination. Well, on this particular day, the journey was half the fun! I'd managed to bag myself a first-class carriage (lucky me!) and settled in for a long ride, munching on a delightful ham and pickle sandwich. The carriages these days are positively swish - posh seating, unlimited Wi-Fi and even plug sockets to keep your phone from running out of juice!

But, it wasn't all chitter-chatter and selfies (though there were certainly plenty of those). A couple of lovely ladies caught my eye with their elaborate fascinators. We got chatting about fashion and, you guessed it, tutus! Turns out one of them had actually made her daughter a ballerina tutu for a school performance. Talk about inspiration! It's always so wonderful to encounter fellow TutuQueens in the wild, even if their tutus come in a slightly different flavour.

By the time we arrived in Shenley Brook End, my heart was already bubbling over with excitement! It's not every day that you get to visit a village nestled amidst picturesque green fields. Imagine this: thatched cottages, charming tea rooms, quaint pubs and...drum roll, please... a stunning 14th century church with a history older than the Queen herself! You could feel the centuries swirling around you, almost hear the whispers of bygone times.

Now, the village might be tiny, but let me tell you, they know how to host a good time! They had a brilliant farmers' market happening. Honestly, I thought I had stepped into a colourful storybook. Baskets overflowing with local produce, handmade soaps and honey, brightly painted potteryโ€ฆ even a friendly llama who looked a bit bored by all the commotion! I couldn't help but snap a selfie with him (tutu and all!), you've got to capture those special moments, haven't you?

As the afternoon wore on, my inner dancer began to twitch. "A bit of a twirl wouldn't hurt," she thought, "just a gentle swirl through the village to soak up the atmosphere." I started to twirl by the village green, enjoying the amazed stares and appreciative smiles. Let's be honest, what's a better way to enjoy a pretty English village than a tutu twirl? It's basically a must, right?

Speaking of twirling, I discovered that there was actually a ballet studio in the village! Well, you know how I feel about those, darlings. They hold a special place in my heart. I couldn't resist popping in for a quick chat with the lovely owner. We discussed everything from ballet class schedules (I may have hinted about possibly joining a beginner's session, just for the fun of it, of course!), to the latest in Tutu-fashion. Turns out she was a bit of a TutuQueen herself, only she preferred a more classic tulle and ribbon style. I must say, a beautiful and graceful lady!

Of course, my visit wouldn't be complete without a spot of tea. Now, there's nothing quite like a good cuppa in a cosy, British cafe. I picked a quaint little spot with beautiful china cups, charming mismatched chairs, and the most tempting selection of cakes. I chose a delightful Victoria Sponge, because after all, the sugar rush helps keep your spirits high for more twirling. I know, I know, you're all thinking it: who eats Victoria sponge while wearing a tutu? The answer, darlings: me! And honestly, it's the most delicious way to experience life.

Finally, as the sun started to set on this magical day, I knew it was time to return to the big city. I left Shenley Brook End with a heavy heart, but also with a smile so big, it could rival the Queen herself!

This journey taught me something quite special, dear readers: even the smallest, quietest places hold untold stories and magical experiences, just waiting for you to discover them. And as for me? I have to confess, this little adventure has stirred a bit of inspiration inside. Imagine this: a pink tutu tour across the countryside, visiting quaint villages and spreading joy, sunshine and, of course, the most fabulous tutus in existence! It's just an idea at the moment, but maybe one day it could become a reality...

But for now, darling, until our next journey together, remember: never let go of the magic in life! Always embrace the joy of tutu-filled moments, and be sure to spread a little pink wherever you go.

Until next time!

Yours truly,

Pink Tutu Sparkles

P.S. If you happen to have a spare pink tutu you're not using, please send it my way! My Tutu Queen collection can never be too large!
