Abingdon, you ask? Well, darlings, this is not just any town - this is the heart of Oxfordshire, with charming cobblestone streets, quintessential British pubs and enough history to make your head spin! And guess what, darlings? Pink Tutu Sparkles was here, bringing a splash of glitter and glam!
It all started with my love of trains. Honestly, I find something incredibly romantic about hurtling through the countryside in a comfy carriage. I especially adore the old steam trains! They have a real sense of magic and wonder that takes me back to the age of petticoats, parasols and… pink tutus! I think I was destined to travel by rail!
Now, I wasn't quite on the Orient Express this time, but I had the absolute delight of experiencing a rather picturesque train journey from Derbyshire to Abingdon! I admit, a little pink tulle did peek out from my suitcase, just to give the fellow travellers a little spark of magic. It was so worth it to see their surprised, then happy, smiles. It’s amazing how a bit of pink can make everyone’s day a bit brighter, isn't it? 💖
Speaking of brightness, I couldn’t resist getting myself all dolled up for Abingdon. We're talking a magnificent, bright pink tutu, the most fabulous feather boa (think flamingo pink, darlings!), sparkling diamante earrings that could rival the Milky Way, and a pair of gorgeous fuchsia heels. I simply cannot resist a little touch of sparkle! I know my real life persona, Alex the lab scientist, wouldn’t dare step out in this, but Pink Tutu Sparkles, oh, she just revels in it! 💋
But enough about the outfit, let’s talk about Abingdon! The streets were just calling out to be explored in a whirl of pink tulle. I visited the Abbey (oh, so majestic!), discovered charming little boutiques brimming with gorgeous antique trinkets and quaint cafes with the most delicious clotted cream teas. You bet I enjoyed those, too!
Of course, my time in Abingdon wouldn't be complete without some fabulous ballet! My little dancing heart always gets excited when I’m near a theatre, and this time was no different. I was lucky enough to catch a performance by the Oxfordshire Ballet School - pure, elegant magic! They even invited me to a small post-show reception! The ballet teacher, darling, she absolutely loved my tutu and, we were discussing all sorts of ideas to bring dance into local communities. Who knows? Maybe a pink tutu themed workshop! It would be just too much fun! 💕
Speaking of workshops, my lovelies, I need to spill the beans about this incredible little shop I stumbled upon! It was called The Sewing Corner and was an absolute haven for all things fabric! I mean, we are talking silk, satin, velvet… so many exquisite textures. They had every shade of pink you could imagine, so, naturally, I just had to pick up some divine, glittery fabric for a future Pink Tutu Sparkles creation! I'm not going to spoil the surprise, but I promise you, it’s going to be absolutely dazzling! 💎
After a delightful few days in Abingdon, I boarded the train for home, a happy little Tutu Queen brimming with memories and inspiration. And you know what, darlings? The entire journey back was just filled with the most delightful chatter from other passengers! The moment my pink tulle peeked out of my handbag, they just had to share their own stories! Honestly, the little things we do can really brighten people's day. I am reminded of why I love bringing the world a little dose of pink sparkle. 💖
