Crewe Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Hits the Road (Blog Post #2926)

Hello darlings! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-obsessed drag queen! Well, my darlings, the pink train is steaming out of Derbyshire, heading straight for the fabulous town of Crewe! Yes, I’m swapping the lab coat for the fabulous tutu as I'm off to glitter up the night at the fantastic, glittering, fabulous venue, [Insert venue name]! Can you believe it's the 4th of January already? How’s everyone’s new year going? It’s been a whirlwind for this queen! I’ve already performed in Sheffield, Birmingham and Nottingham, and it seems like each new town brings new pink sparkle to my world. I've been adding to my tutu collection at each new city - don’t worry, it's still within budget!

So, the Crewe gig - I’m excited! The local press are talking about my show, ‘A Tutusaurus Rex: The Return of Pink!' (Yes, it's that catchy, even I have to admit!) They've been comparing me to Lily Savage, and saying they’re ready for some fun, camp and colourful cabaret - and believe me, I’m bringing them just that. This will be my third performance in Crewe this year and the last show was just a dream. They really embraced the tutus. They even had one guy on stage dancing in a pink fluffy tutu – what a legend! The last time I was in Crewe I had a go on a giant mechanical rocking horse outside the railway station, and let’s just say it ended up in tears and sequins. You could say I have a tendency to get carried away with the theatrics sometimes!

Speaking of tears and sequins, I had a real rollercoaster of emotions last week in Nottingham! Imagine this, I'm in a fancy dress shop trying on a new pink tutu, and just as I'm doing a pirouette, what happens but the top rips! It’s as if it had a mind of its own! A rip like that is just plain rude! Of course, with my flair for the dramatic, the entire shop was brought to a standstill – tutus scattered everywhere! The staff had no idea what hit them. "Did this happen with the last customer?" they said. They probably wondered how this small-town shopkeeper had managed to attract such a dramatic queen. I took it all in my stride, of course! A splash of glue, a few crafty stitches, and my beautiful new tutu was ready for its big Nottingham premiere - I’m sure you all saw the post about it on my instagram - and all eyes were on it - everyone, and I mean everyone, in the entire pub, including the barman and his best friend, the dog, were absolutely mesmerized! You can never have too many sequins and tulle - right?

Now, for those of you who haven’t been following my recent adventures, let me give you a little update: I've been working hard, practising every chance I get – it’s either the gym or ballet class these days! It’s hard work keeping fit! My new signature number, “A Tutusaurus Rex,” combines sassy struts and fierce pink energy - the dance steps are a total mix of sassy ballet and powerful voguing! I’ve always loved ballet! It’s the epitome of graceful strength and elegant artistry. Remember, it was during my days at uni, when I joined the university ballet club and slipped into that pink tutu for charity, that I realised this was what I had to do - a dream job of sparkle and laughter, travelling and twirling - it’s the best life a pink loving drag queen could ask for!

Speaking of ballet, did you know I love attending those fantastic "dance street" and "dance theater" shows? I get my fill of glitter, drama, and the pure joy of movement. It’s definitely inspired me in my act. They are both so fun, flamboyant and glamorous – not to mention incredibly demanding! The dancers work so hard to entertain us, just as I try to do. Sometimes, I imagine that in some alternate universe, I could be one of those dancers - I’ve been known to slip into a full pointe shoe outfit! - It would be so exhilarating!

Now, as I’m getting ready for this show, I’ve been looking for a new pair of dance shoes to really make an impact. They need to be fabulous – think glittery platforms! – for my fierce dancing numbers. Maybe I’ll take a quick detour in Crewe to get some inspiration and see what new beauties they have on offer – I bet I could find some new gems tucked away in the town.

There are so many amazing shops for a tutu lover to explore! It's funny how finding a good fashion bargain gives you this weird little boost, you know what I mean? It’s like you can tackle anything. That little confidence boost makes it easier to embrace my pink tutu side and let loose. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have some fabulous outfits for the gigs - it all adds to the magic!

I must admit, travelling around the country is really bringing new pink vibes into my world. There's so much excitement about the journey itself – although my heart really does beat faster on a good train journey! Of course, there’s always a little anxiety at the beginning - but once I get comfortable and see those big, glittering windows, I feel that same little magic as a child looking out into a field of dreams. Trains are always such fun - especially when you can sit by the window with a hot drink and enjoy the scenery rushing past. It gives you a great perspective.

But here’s a secret I’m sharing with all of you – my favourite journey? It’s on a majestic horse - all regal, shiny black coat, mane flying - that’s when I feel like a queen! Okay, maybe not quite as fast as the pink express, but it’s got so much character. I’ll just say it makes those “onwards to victory” pictures for my Instagram look a whole lot more epic! And for a certain pink-loving queen, that makes a real difference, you know?

As I'm sitting here writing, I’m actually in the midst of a little “pinkathon,” as I call it, - a shopping spree for new sequins and sparkles. This place is already in my heart and soul, with its quirky little shops full of gorgeous glittery goodies – if they're selling tutus, you bet I’m going in! Who can resist pink fluffy boas and feathers, let’s just say it’s already been a blast and the shopping's not even done yet! I always like to support local businesses and see what hidden gems I can unearth. It’s a real challenge, I must say. Sometimes, you discover those amazing hidden stores you wish you had a whole wardrobe big enough to keep them all!

So there you have it, my darlings. The Pink Tutu train is leaving the station. I’m going to bring a little glitter and a whole lot of fun to this fantastic town - all dressed in a vibrant pink tutu, ready to rock Crewe with “A Tutusaurus Rex: The Return of Pink!” Hope to see you there!
