Consett Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes on the North East!

#3342

Helloooo darlings! Your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles is back with a brand-new post, fresh from the magical world of Consett! Oh my, this little town in County Durham is just bursting with charm and, of course, a whole heap of fabulousness waiting to be explored. As always, I travelled in style - a glorious journey by train, of course, to soak up the sights and enjoy the journey, because whatā€™s a drag queen without a little bit of theatrical travel, right?

I landed in Consett feeling like a fairy godmother about to sprinkle a bit of sparkle dust on the place. You see, dear readers, Iā€™m all about making a statement. A loud, sparkly, feather-boa-waving, pink-tutu-wearing statement. Itā€™s my mission, my calling ā€“ to get the world rocking pink tutus.

Now, I know what youā€™re thinking - ā€œTutus? In Consett? A bit bold, donā€™t you think?ā€ Well, let me tell you, darling, you just havenā€™t experienced the joy of a tutu in action. Imagine the swish of tulle as you pirouette through a crowd, the playful flounce of a tutu while you sip your morning cuppa ā€“ itā€™s absolute joy, pure and simple.

Speaking of pure joy, I absolutely adore ballet, you see. I love watching the graceful ballerinas twirling in their tutus, their movements fluid and delicate, their stories told in every gesture. Itā€™s pure magic! I even squeeze in some ballet classes whenever I can, a bit of practice for this Pink Tutu Sparkles. Itā€™s so wonderfully exhilarating, getting to twirl and leap to your heart's content, even if it doesnā€™t always go quite as smoothly as I imagine. (Spoiler alert: it rarely goes to plan).

Back to Consett! This charming little town was an absolute dream to explore. A mix of industrial heritage and quaint cobbled streets ā€“ exactly my cuppa tea! Of course, my main reason for venturing to this corner of the North East was a special event ā€“ a fancy dress extravaganza that promised to be a real corker! They were even putting on a fantastic cabaret and invited a whole load of fabulous drag queens, me included, to showcase our best acts. What a brilliant opportunity to show the Consett crew the joy of the tutu, darling!

And did we make a splash! I shimmied and sashayed in my custom-designed hot pink tutu with the most glorious embellishments ā€“ think diamantĆ© galore, sparkling feathers, and even a few sequined butterflies for a touch of magic. I canā€™t tell you how much joy it brings me to see peopleā€™s faces light up as I spin across the stage. A few of the girls were wearing tutus as well - I always love to see others embrace the tulle.

After the show, it was time to mingle and spread a little more of my pink tutu magic. Everyone was absolutely lovely, especially the young ones, mesmerised by the glitz and glamour. The biggest surprise came when one young lad, maybe eight or nine, shyly told me he wanted to be a drag queen one day! My heart melted - it's always heartening to see such open minds and expressions of self, isn't it?

In Consett, I was treated to an amazing homemade fish supper and had a few drinks with the other performers, all buzzing after a fab night of fabulousness. It was heartwarming to see so much laughter and joy amongst the local community. There was an incredible atmosphere and everyone, even the local policemen who were there keeping the peace, seemed to be in good spirits!

Consett certainly reminded me of why I do what I do. This whole Pink Tutu Sparkles journey started at university, darling, when I was studying Science (not an easy feat to balance with all this tutus-and-sparkles malarkey, I tell you!) Anyway, it was a university fundraiser for a local hospice. I got a few mates together to put on a performance for the good cause and decided to borrow a friend's pink tutu, you know, for a little extra sparkle. The rest, they say, is history!

The next day I got up at the crack of dawn and packed my suitcase. I waved goodbye to the quaint cobbled streets, feeling that extra boost of self-assurance and inspiration that comes with making people happy.

Being a drag queen is so much more than just wearing makeup and tutus - it's about embracing your unique self, finding joy in life's simple pleasures, and bringing a little bit of sparkle into everyoneā€™s world. And honestly? It's a beautiful thing.

Till next time, darlings!

Love always,

Your Pink Tutu Sparkles

P.S. Iā€™ll be performing in Sheffield this weekend. Hope to see you there!

P.P.S. Be sure to check out the fab tutus on offer at www.pink-tutu.com. I'm working on a special Consett collection.

P.P.P.S. I just had the most magical encounter! I met the most gorgeous black horse named Onyx today in the stables next to my hotel. He let me try out one of his saddles and pose for some pictures - such a gentle giant, truly enchanting. I may be heading back for another visit. Just need to see what kind of ā€˜pink-tutu-sparklyā€™ outfits will be best suited for a day out at the stables!

XOXO, Pink Tutu Sparkles
