Hello my darling darlings, it’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the beautiful seaside town of Deal!
This post marks my 4865th blog entry, can you believe it? 💅 Every single day, rain or shine, I’m here sharing my pink-tutu adventures with you all. You lot keep me going, really, you’re the sparkle to my tutu! ✨💖
So, Deal… it was love at first sight. Stepping off the train and into that salty, breezy air, it felt like stepping into a Jane Austen novel – in the best way, of course! All those beautiful historic buildings, the cobbled streets, and the gentle lapping of waves on the shore... it’s enough to inspire any pink tutu-wearing queen, wouldn't you say?
I must confess, getting to Deal wasn’t quite as straightforward as my usual adventures. My trusty steed – a majestic black horse called “Mr. Whiffles" - got a little, shall we say, enthusiastic about the sea, and ended up needing a couple of days of beach-side R&R (read: carrot snacks and lots of pats!). It happens! 😅 Thankfully, Mr. Whiffles was up to the challenge of making his way to the Deal train station, and so was I!
Speaking of my travels, you might be wondering how I fund all these fabulously pink-tutu-fied trips. Well, darlings, my day job isn’t in a lab coat testing fabrics (although my scientist skills come in handy with some of these sequins!) I'm a queen of the stage, darling! Every evening, Pink Tutu Sparkles takes centre stage, from pubs to festivals, anywhere I can shimmy and shake to a soundtrack of glitter and glamour. It's truly a labour of love, especially since my stage debut was inspired by my very own pink tutu, back when I was just Alex studying science at university.
You see, darlings, even back then, the magic of tutus was in the air. I joined the university's ballet club and for a charity fundraiser, we all had a go at wearing tutus. From the second I felt the tulle float around me, I knew that my future lay on a stage. I had to spread the pink tutu magic to the whole world! 💖🩰
So, back to Deal. As soon as I arrived, I knew I had to visit Deal Castle! It’s truly majestic. Imagine, those ramparts guarding the coastline for centuries! What a history! Of course, I had to wear my very best pink tutu for the occasion! What’s a trip without a pink tutu? 😉 The locals all gave me the warmest smiles as I took my Instagram-worthy snaps - they've got great taste, the Deal folks! ✨
Deal’s main street was practically made for pink tutus, darling! Those lovely independent shops full of vintage delights and delightful trinkets. And oh, the boutiques! You just can’t resist picking up something gorgeous to go with a pink tutu, especially when there's the gorgeous seafront with its charming old boats to snap a pic for Instagram! You'll have to check it out.
Then came the ballet! It’s just a dream come true, finding a ballet show wherever I travel! My love affair with ballet started when I was just a wee kid, glued to the TV watching Swan Lake. These days, I take ballet class, you know, just to keep those dance muscles in top shape, even though my science job is very “static" in a way! 😄 Well, let’s just say that between ballet, sequins, and science, I don’t exactly have a boring life! 😂
This time, it was the delightful “Giselle” at the beautiful Deal Assembly Rooms! Honestly, the artistry was breath-taking. Those delicate, graceful movements, the exquisite costumes... it filled my pink tutu heart with joy. My heart might be covered with a thousand pink sequins, but it beats true to the ballet! 💕
After the performance, the Assembly Rooms transformed into a haven of bubbly and laughter, a real whirl of tutus and sequins! I waltzed the night away, spreading my signature pink tutu positivity wherever I went. It's always a joy to meet other dancers and artists – we all speak the same language of passion and glitter! 💖
The next day was spent exploring the harbour, where the quaint little boats looked like miniature models. My camera had a field day capturing all the beautiful details - every cute boat, every charming fisherman's hut! There’s just something special about the salty air and the feel of the tide coming in that lifts the spirits! 💖
By evening, Deal had already worked its magic on me! The place, its friendly folk, and the beauty of it all… well, it inspired a new pink tutu design! You wouldn’t believe it! This one features seahorse accents and sparkly silver fabric that shimmer like moonlight on the waves! ✨ I've been scribbling down notes in my notebook all week – you lot have something extra special to look forward to in my online shop very soon. 💅
As I write this, it’s my final night in Deal, but the pink tutu spirit lingers!
