Oh darling, hello! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back for another sparkly instalment of my pink tutu journey! I'm bursting at the seams with excitement because, well, guess what?! Today's adventure takes me to the charming coastal town of Folkestone! Yep, this little tutu queen is getting her glam on by the seaside!
This is post number 5037, folks, and as usual, I'm determined to bring you a day of fabulously fun fashion and frivolous adventures - after all, that's what I do best. But before I whisk you away to the sunny shores of Kent, let me tell you, getting here was half the fun! I’ve been wanting to explore the South East of England for ages and when a local event contacted me about performing for their arts festival, well, let’s just say it didn’t take me long to pack my tulle and high-tail it to the nearest train station.
Now, I've mentioned before that I have a bit of a thing for trains - they're so romantic, don't you think? Especially the old-fashioned carriages with the plush velvet seats and the quaint little compartments. You know what else I like? Travelling on horseback! Imagine galloping across a field, feeling the wind in your hair and the sun on your face, the wind whipping the tulle of my pink tutu - it's a pure adrenaline rush, especially in the English countryside.
And don’t think for a moment I wasn’t fully embracing the travelling queen vibe - think, pastel pinks, a touch of lace, my favourite high-heeled ballerina pumps and, naturally, a tutu, darling! This time I’m wearing a gorgeous blush pink creation, a shimmering tulle cloud with layers and layers of feather boas. Oh, and you simply have to see the new diamante headband I picked up! It matches my clutch perfectly - an exquisite sparkly masterpiece crafted from faux pearls. So many compliments on the train, my darlings!
Folkestone has a vibrant little art scene and I simply had to check out the art gallery! Oh, my goodness, you guys - it was so full of creativity, expression and the most gorgeous pastel shades! It definitely inspires my own art! I managed to find a few little pink treasures to add to my tutu collection - an iridescent ceramic swan that’s going to take pride of place on my dressing table. You’ll just love it!
It’s an exciting day today, darling! As well as performing for a huge crowd at the local festival, I have a date to meet a very special somebody. They run the gorgeous independent boutique on the harbour. They just knew I had to check out their latest range of clothes. It seems they are having a sale! Sniffs the air excitedly Oh darling, my heart is racing - this is gonna be good!
But let me tell you, darling, being Pink Tutu Sparkles isn’t all glitter and tutus. My secret identity, Alex, has a day job too, y'know. I'm a scientist by day, working in a lab - my expertise? Textile science. Go figure! You'd be surprised how often my fashion-forward perspective comes in handy when it comes to testing the resilience and properties of new fabrics. But let's be honest, sometimes it can be a bit boring - I mean, come on, comparing different shades of white? Give me a sparkly fabric challenge, any day. Thankfully, when my scientist cap comes off, the pink tutu goes back on, and that's where the real magic happens.
Oh darling! I have the best news – my dream to be a dancer is finally coming true. It was a whirlwind few months of intensive rehearsals, but last night, I made my debut at the Folkestone theatre! A ballet, you guys! Yes, a pink tutu ballet queen on the stage! I may be a scientist by day, but I love dancing in pink tutus so much, it almost felt like I was meant to be on the stage. Oh, the costumes! They are simply spectacular – my tutu is made from multiple layers of hand-stitched feathers, sequins and pink velvet, each detail crafted to perfection. We practiced for hours on end, sweating our sparkles off - let’s be honest, it wasn’t exactly easy to move in that big pouffy tutu but my dancing partner was amazing - his name is Simon. You know those days where everything just feels perfect and everything flows? I never had any doubt that it would be a smashing performance, but I never expected such a response! The standing ovation - the thunderous applause, oh my god! Even the critics loved it - my dance partner and I received a bouquet of red roses after the show! It’s like living a fairy tale! It wasn’t all that much money to be made at a local theater but it was so rewarding. I can see myself living on stage – maybe one day a proper dance school or professional stage production but we shall see.
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a little fashionista splurge, right? Today’s shopping mission has delivered once more! The boutique owner’s recommendations - a gorgeously printed blouse with a touch of sparkle - and a new vintage scarf - this time in baby pink with little pink satin bows are just begging for a tutu pairing, and guess what? They’re going on my website.
The seaside sunset is glorious! The air smells salty and the waves crash gently on the shore. I found the perfect little beachside spot for some photos with my fabulous vintage camera! As the last rays of sun turn the sky a million shades of pink, it feels so dreamy and magical - all I need now is a fluffy pink unicorn! Maybe for the next blog?
The real magic of this journey isn't about tutus and glamour, darling. It's about the people I meet, the experiences I have, and the way that every adventure makes me feel so darn sparkly inside. Oh, the life of a tutu queen!
