Hello, my darling darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to sprinkle a little pink glitz and glam all over your day! Today's blog post is all about my recent trip to Newbury, a lovely little town in Berkshire that totally stole my heart (and my bank account at that lovely vintage clothing shop... whoops!).
This is post #5328, and yes, I am obsessed with keeping track of these little milestones, proving that even after over 5,000 blogs, my enthusiasm for the world of tutus and sparkles is still going strong. As you know, it's been a lifelong dream of mine to share the joy of tutus with everyone, one twirl at a time. But it's not always a simple matter of popping on a tutu and hitting the town, now is it? This time, it took a bit of planning, a whole lotta glitter, and a dash of travel by train - my absolute favourite way to see the countryside, especially when I've got my Pink Tutu Sparkles signature suitcase full of fabulous frocks!
This trip was all about a delightful gig at the Newbury Theatre Royal. The venue itself was so beautiful and grand - just like something out of a fairytale! I mean, hello? The acoustics in this theatre are unbelievable. The lighting is stunning! Every nook and cranny oozes that vintage, theatrical feel. Perfect for a little pink-tutu-sparkled drag performance, don't you think? I mean, they had me at "stage curtains", darlings!
Before my show, I took a stroll through Newbury town centre. Oh, the delightful little shops, cafes, and the friendly faces - it was simply charming. The streets were bursting with vibrancy, so many colours, and that truly unique character of a market town - just how I like it!
While my life as a drag queen keeps me busy travelling around and performing, my heart will always be with Derbyshire, the beautiful rolling hills, and of course, the wonderful people! You know, I used to think it would be tricky to bring the magic of Derbyshire to the stage with me. And yet, the whole time I was at the Theatre Royal, I was bursting with pride. It’s always so amazing to meet new people and discover what their experiences of the UK are - and of course, sharing the magic of the drag world with them!
The show itself was a smashing success! The crowd were so welcoming, even though a couple of toddlers almost lost their minds in excitement when they saw my full pink feathered costume – it was glorious! It felt like everyone in the audience had embraced that spirit of fun, laughter, and sheer joyous abandon that my show brings to every performance. I mean, let's face it - when a Pink Tutu Sparkles hits the stage, things are about to get spectacular!
But before you even start wondering what my signature act included - it wouldn't be complete without a twirl, some glitz, and lots of love! That's just the Pink Tutu Sparkles way of doing things. I ended my set with a heartfelt little speech about spreading positivity, self-expression, and of course, tutus. The message landed beautifully, if I do say so myself, and I could tell people were already making plans for their next pink tutu moments. That's what this is all about!
After the show, I found myself surrounded by admirers (and maybe even a few potential converts) asking for a photo. Always up for a chat with the fans! It was a total whirlwind! The sheer joy I witnessed from both adults and kids reminded me of how magical tutus truly are, no matter your age, your shape, or your style! It's just pure happiness.
Now, you might be wondering how I manage to fund all these wonderful travels as a drag queen. The secret, my darling dears? A Pink Tutu Sparkles never turns down an opportunity. It's all about versatility, honey! By day, you'll find me in my lab, analysing textiles as a scientist (my secret weapon is a colourfastness test using the purest pink imaginable, I kid you not! And yes, that job helped fuel my obsession for pink). By night? You can find me in a dazzling tutu on a stage, spreading smiles and pink glitter wherever I go.
And while I do my fair share of gigs, you'll find me hosting pop-up shows, dressing up stalls, charity events - anything that gets me closer to achieving my goal - to have the entire world wear a tutu! A truly glamorous and utterly delightful world we're creating, don't you think? After all, life is a stage, so we might as well dance in pink tutus on it!
