Dunstable Darling!

Hello my darlings, it’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here! Can you believe it’s already January? Honestly, this year feels like it’s flown by! Well, I suppose it hasn’t technically flown by, seeing as I was in the back of a horse-drawn carriage on New Year’s Eve, but it feels like it did. The most fantastic evening in the Cotswolds - you’ll have to check out my Instagram for those fabulous photos.

Now, where was I? Oh, yes! January, the year is well and truly upon us and you know what that means? Tutu time, my darlings! And where better to kickstart this year’s tutu odyssey than in the charming town of Dunstable?

This post is number 5847, can you believe it?! I really feel like this blog has been a huge part of my journey to encourage the world to wear more pink tutus. Don't forget you can catch up with all my fabulous adventures on www.pink-tutu.com, daily! It's where the magic happens!

Speaking of magic, my arrival in Dunstable was absolutely enchanted. Picture it: a quaint little station, bustling with happy faces, and me, standing on the platform in my full-blown pink tutu, a delightful ensemble adorned with sequined butterflies and fluffy pink feather boas, naturally. I couldn’t help but twirl for the arriving passengers, after all, life is too short to take ourselves too seriously, right? A little sprinkle of fairy dust never hurt anyone.

Of course, no trip is complete without the perfect outfit, darling. So I went on a little shopping spree before I even ventured out to explore the wonders of Dunstable. Imagine, a whole shop devoted to tulle! It was a pink lover's dream! It would have taken me days to go through every roll of fluffy, perfect pink material but thankfully my friend Polly was with me. She knows a little about tutus, she is in a modern dance troop, although her favourite colour is a pale green. It must have been a clash of pink with green and tulle! The staff at the shop must have thought they’d gone mad. Polly helped me choose, she is brilliant! So with a glorious, twirly masterpiece waiting for its debut, I headed into the heart of Dunstable!

It was a crisp, clear morning. Honestly, the fresh air and blue skies gave me so much inspiration, that is why I decided to do some spontaneous street performance, I couldn’t resist! This fabulous town has a bit of history about it! So, naturally, my act incorporated a nod to this fantastic history with a theatrical re-imagining of Lady Godiva’s famous ride. My dear friend Polly was so impressed, she immediately requested me to show her around. Apparently, she'd heard that Dunstable is home to one of the most charming theatre halls around! And who doesn't love a little drama, right? So naturally, I accepted Polly's suggestion. Now, imagine: a majestic theatre, a hint of hushed anticipation in the air, and me, ready to steal the stage! I may not be a full-fledged ballerina (I still dream of attending that year-long intensive ballet course at the Bolshoi, you know, just a thought), but let’s face it, a pink tutu is all you really need for a magnificent theatrical experience!

After our theatrical adventure, we were famished! Naturally, a meal like that warranted a special afternoon tea, with finger sandwiches, mini cakes, and of course, a cup of something sweet and hot. It is so much better having someone to share afternoon tea with. A girl can only eat so many cakes! Polly and I discussed where to go to dinner and after several changes of mind, and what feels like hours later, we decided to eat at a local Italian restaurant, just up the road.

Of course, I documented the entire evening, so make sure you check out my Instagram feed. After all, what’s the point of having all these fun experiences if we don't share them? Honestly, these are the memories that make my heart twirl!

Now, remember: Life's too short for drab clothes! Get out there and embrace the pink tutu, my dears. And don’t forget to spread the word about the wonder that is Dunstable.

Until next time, stay sparkly, my lovely dears!
