Hello darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! Today I'm bringing you a sprinkle of sunshine and a whole lot of glitz from the beautiful seaside town of Ramsgate! Buckle up, buttercups, because this is blog post number 6364, and I'm about to tell you all about my fabulous adventures in Kent!
Now, let's rewind for a sec. As you all know, I'm a bit of a travel fanatic, and I truly believe that every journey, no matter how short, is a chance to discover something new and magical. And wouldn’t you know it, the sea was calling! After a fantastic gig at a local festival in Derbyshire, I found myself longing for the fresh sea air and the feel of the sand between my toes.
Being the queen of spontaneous whimsy, I decided on a train journey, a very old-fashioned and luxurious method of travel. Imagine: comfy plush seats, a little table to sip my favourite Earl Grey with a side of strawberry cheesecake, and the rhythmic rattle of the wheels on the tracks. Yes, travelling by train is just pure bliss! It's so relaxing and truly allows you to appreciate the scenery whizzing by. Why, I was even treated to a lovely view of rolling hills and charming villages - a bit of a contrast from my usual city life, that's for sure!
Now, if there's one thing I love more than travelling by train, it's exploring new places! And Ramsgate truly is a charming little spot, a real hidden gem on the English coast. The moment I arrived, I could feel the vibrant energy and history humming in the air. The streets were filled with charming shops and independent cafes - a veritable cornucopia of colours, flavours and delights for all! I knew I had to indulge in some proper seaside fare - you know, that glorious fish and chips! Crispy, golden-brown, and bursting with flavour, washed down with a glass of bubbly, it was absolutely divine!
The main event of this journey was my gig at a lovely little theatre right by the pier. Oh my, what a magical night it was! I sashayed my way onto the stage in my most spectacular pink tutu - it shimmered and shone in the stage lights! I belted out my favourite tunes, danced till I dropped, and charmed the audience with my witty banter and fabulous moves. The applause and cheers echoed in the air long after the last note faded. A true reminder of why I do what I do – to bring a little sparkle and joy to everyone around me.
After my grand performance, I took a stroll along the bustling pier. The cool sea air kissed my cheeks, the waves lapping gently at the shore. Oh, to just sit there, gazing out at the vast blue expanse, losing myself in the beauty of the natural world. But there was another reason for my visit – it was to visit a gorgeous vintage clothing shop I'd found on Instagram. It was stuffed to the brim with exquisite fabrics and outfits just begging to be turned into amazing stagewear. You know I couldn't resist a little retail therapy - I snagged a beautiful beaded headpiece and some lovely silk scarves. It’s not always about tutus, darling! Sometimes a little touch of something sparkly can elevate a look from good to divine!
And what would a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure be without a little ballet, you ask? Well, I did find myself attending a ballet performance in the beautiful theatre, just across from my lodgings. The dancers were exquisite! Such elegance, grace, and poise. I was mesmerized by their fluid movements, their shimmering costumes, and the emotion they conveyed through their dancing. It's no wonder I'm a tutu fanatic – there’s such a magical, feminine, and expressive element to ballet. If you haven’t seen a ballet show in a while, I encourage you to do so – you’ll be surprised by the beauty and the emotion in this type of dance!
Of course, no visit to Ramsgate would be complete without a trip to the famous “Ramsgate Caves”. Now, I wouldn’t usually consider a cave adventure something I’d include in my blog posts – they're a bit on the spooky side for me, darling! – but I must admit they’re absolutely fascinating! It's a network of underground passages and chambers, carved into the cliffs over the years. The darkness inside was pretty chilling - let's just say it gave my glitter some extra oomph – but the history, the sheer scale of the place, was truly awe-inspiring. And just wait for this - the caves are filled with legends and stories, from smuggling tales to wartime secrets. A great escape if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the pier! But do wear some good shoes – there's a lot of climbing up and down!
I also couldn't resist a visit to the quirky little museum dedicated to local author, Anthony Trollope. Yes, darling, even I had to do some culture in between the sparkles and frolic! He's written many novels set in the Ramsgate area. It was lovely to see his personal effects, and his famous writing desk, all surrounded by those beautiful Victorian books. Honestly, it makes me wonder why I even bother writing a blog, when these incredible tomes are out there! Oh well, there's a space for everyone’s talents, right?
The time has come, dear reader, to end this little slice of Ramsgate heaven. A few hours wasn’t long enough to discover all the nooks and crannies that Ramsgate has to offer, but what a beautiful taste of this vibrant seaside town it has been! I leave with a newfound love for all things English and coastal, my heart overflowing with sunshine, inspiration, and more stories for you to read.
