Hitchin, darling! A pink tutu pilgrimage... #6394

Hello lovelies! Itā€™s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the delightful town of Hitchin. Iā€™m so excited to be here, this little corner of Hertfordshire has captured my pink-tinted heart! You might think itā€™s an odd place for a pink-loving drag queen to land, but trust me, itā€™s a gem of a destination!

The train ride in was an absolute dream, the countryside whizzing past, and the sun making my perfectly pink tulle skirt dance in the breeze. My hair was a cloud of soft pink, the colour of a perfectly ripe strawberry, and my lips, oh darling, my lips were the colour of the sunset. Iā€™m a walking pink paradise, and Hitchin, as it turns out, is an absolutely pink-tastic spot for a diva like me!

The first thing I did when I arrived, naturally, was head to the shops. Oh, the sheer, gorgeous fashion joy of Hitchinā€™s high street! A kaleidoscope of independent shops with vibrant displays, charming window displays, and some seriously fabulous clothes! My credit card screamed but my wardrobe rejoiced. The boutique, "Frock It!", oh my word! I found myself an embroidered velvet coat in the deepest shade of fuchsia. Clicks her ruby red lips together and fans herself with her feathered boa. It's so fabulous, I'll have to post about it on my socials, darlings.

Iā€™m not sure how Hitchin got on my radar, I guess it just appeared in one of my many Google searches, ā€œPink-themed travel destinations in the UK.ā€ You know me, always scouting for the next adventure. And honestly, this town is everything I wanted, with its adorable independent boutiques, the historic St. Mary's Church and, well, a delightful pink bakery, ā€˜Pink Sugar Dreamsā€™. I could have spent hours in there!

My drag schedule took me to The Hitchin Market Place that night, and I tell you, darling, the atmosphere was absolutely electric! It felt like a massive dance floor with stalls laden with the most amazing array of goodies! From handmade soaps and vintage records to artisan fudge and the cutest knitted baby shoes you ever did see!

But the best part of my Hitchin escapade was most definitely the Hitchin Lavender Festival! Imagine, darling, fields upon fields of fragrant purple lavender! Oh, the photo ops were amazing. I sashaying through the lavender fields in my favourite, tulle, pink tutu. The sheer volume of those beautiful flowers, the intoxicating aroma - it felt like I was dancing in a fairytale. And you canā€™t leave a lavender field without smelling the local honey, right? Let me tell you, those tiny honey jars were absolutely addictive! It reminded me of home, my childhood spent buzzing around Derbyshire bee farms, back before the glitter and the feathers entered my life.

Youā€™re probably wondering, why the sudden obsession with pink tutus, right? Well, darling, it all started at university, back when I was just a science student, hiding in my lab coat, secretly longing for something moreā€¦ sparkling! My university had a fabulous ballet club, and one charity event, they had a stall selling second-hand costumes. One particular tutu, this blush pink, layered beauty, caught my eye. I tried it onā€¦ and that was it. I was officially smitten with the fluffy, glamorous world of tutus.

I realised, I didn't need to stay hidden in a lab all day, hiding my true self. The truth is, I loved science, loved the intricacy of fabrics, the experiments, but that lab coat felt like a prison. Thatā€™s why I began my transformation into Pink Tutu Sparkles! Science is about discovering and experimenting, right? And, in my world, thatā€™s exactly what I do, only now, I'm exploring the vast and glamorous universe of drag.

It wasn't easy. In fact, at first, it was terrifying! Stepping outside of that scientific comfort zone felt like a leap into the unknown, I had to learn new skills. Dancing, darling, is a whole different beast compared to my science experiments! But oh, the payoff. Performing, sharing my love of colour, making people laugh - itā€™s such a beautiful rush. And, with each performance, I feel more empowered, more confident, more ME.

I often find myself wondering why the world is obsessed with black. It's so dreary. My colour? Well, that's a whole different story! It's bold, it's playful, and it's certainly not afraid to stand out from the crowd. A world with a bit more pink would be a much brighter and more beautiful place, I say! And maybe, just maybe, one day, all of you beautiful, sparkling souls will be joining me in the wonderful world of pink tutus!

So, I say, letā€™s paint the world pink! This fabulous town of Hitchin, with its abundance of shops, charming streets, lavender fields and a general spirit of creativity and celebration, reminded me once again that life is all about having fun. And whatā€™s more fun, I ask you, than prancing around in a fluffy, pink tutu?

Keep shining, loves!
