Spalding Calling! A Tutu-ful Trip to Lincolnshire (Blog Post #6395)

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to spill the glitter tea on my latest adventure, all the way from the glamorous Derbyshire hills to the charming town of Spalding, Lincolnshire.

It’s Tuesday, which for you non-drag queens means a normal work day. For me, it’s a day of packing my pinkest, poofiest, and most sparkly tutu (because, obviously), alongside all the other vital accoutrements for a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance – think rhinestones, fake lashes, and an over-abundance of blusher!

This trip’s special, as it marks the first time I'm hitting up Spalding in my drag persona. Now, you all know how I love my train journeys, but the lure of a horse-drawn carriage led me to go for something a little different this time. Let’s just say I was channeling my inner Cinderella with a twist – sparkly tiara and a tutu-tastic carriage ride! The local carriage service, with its gleaming black horse and the beautiful countryside rolling past, was like something out of a fairytale. Just wait until you see the photos I snapped!

Once in Spalding, I took a spin through the town centre. You'd be surprised at the quirky shops – vintage clothing stores bursting with retro fabulousness, and antique stores overflowing with potential for next-level DIY costume-making! A fellow drag queen can never resist a bargain, and the sheer joy of rummaging through stacks of discarded sequins and feathered boas made my heart flutter with excitement.

And of course, what’s a visit to a new town without some delectable treats? After all, we drag queens need to keep those energy levels up! I was blessed to stumble upon the most delightful tearoom, where I devoured a generous helping of the most divine pink sponge cake. Trust me, it was pink perfection and worthy of the Queen herself (me, of course!).

My main mission was to perform for the lovely folks of Spalding. I have to tell you, this place was buzzing with excitement! They had this wonderful summer fair, right in the heart of the town. As I sashayed on stage in my dazzling tutu and threw those iconic pink sparkles, the crowd roared with applause. Everyone had such a wonderful time, and honestly, the energy was absolutely electric. I mean, who could resist a performance with a name like "Pink Tutu Sparkles" right?

But my love for Spalding doesn't end with the vibrant entertainment and sparkly outfits! Oh, no. You see, Spalding has something even more special up its sleeve: a flourishing local ballet scene!

Now, I’m an absolute ballet fanatic. Anyone who knows me knows about my obsession with tutus, not just as drag costumes but for the elegance, the grace, and the artistry they represent. I couldn't wait to get into my "real" tutu and head over to the local ballet academy. Their classes are so charming, filled with passionate individuals who simply love the dance!

This visit, I was so lucky to meet a lovely lady named Millie. We struck up a conversation, and let's just say I fell completely head over heels for her passion for ballet. Turns out Millie’s an aspiring choreographer, working tirelessly to craft innovative and captivating choreography, especially for kids. And did I tell you? She has a massive, glittering tutu collection, even bigger than mine! We spent hours talking about the world of ballet and our shared love for all things pink! I even gave her some tips on how to make a dramatic grand finale with a show-stopping tutu and pink confetti!

I am not one to keep my passion bottled up! And I am completely and utterly obsessed with the idea of inspiring the next generation of aspiring ballet dancers! So, I gave a talk to a group of students about how to embrace the world of ballet with open hearts and fabulous tutus. Honestly, the pure excitement and awe on their faces was more rewarding than any sparkly performance!

Spalding’s magic doesn't end there, my darlings! This town has something truly extraordinary to offer. Just around the corner, I stumbled upon this hidden gem - an extraordinary, almost fairy-tale-like garden brimming with the most stunning roses in every imaginable shade. My oh my! Imagine my delight when I discovered that their favourite colour? You guessed it! Pink, of course! And I’ll tell you a secret… I’ve always dreamed of designing a couture line inspired by these amazing rose gardens! Talk about a dream!

After such a jam-packed few days, it was time to say goodbye to Spalding, and, yes, I even managed to squeeze in another carriage ride, complete with the most adorable pink scarf to match my tutu. And you know what? As I settled back on my comfortable train, my mind was already churning with ideas for my next pink-tastic journey!

Let me tell you, darlings, Spalding’s got it all. You’ve got the friendly smiles, the enchanting scenery, a taste of history, a passion for the arts, and… well, of course… amazing, delicious cakes.

So, what’s the lesson for today, my darlings? It’s time to put on your most fabulous pink tutus and go out there, spread your sparkle, and bring a little bit of pink to every corner of the world.

Stay pink, and remember, dreams are never too big, even when wearing a tutu!
