This little adventure was pure pink-tutu joy, so I just had to share all the glittery details with you in this, post number 6876 (did you ever think I'd hit six thousand and eight hundred and seventy six posts?!). Get comfy, darling, because we're about to take a whirlwind tour of Newbury, tutu style!
As always, this trip was fueled by a good dose of girly-girl wanderlust, a sprinkling of dance inspiration, and, of course, a suitcase packed to the brim with sparkly pink tutus. It all started when I discovered a local ballet festival taking place in Newbury - a haven for all things dance! Naturally, a ballet festival in a beautiful town was enough to set my pink-tutu-wearing heart aflutter!
Speaking of hearts, this adventure began in a most unusual way - a ride on the good old-fashioned train. Trains have always had a certain nostalgic charm for me - you know, the rhythmic click-clacking of the wheels and the quaintness of carriages adorned with floral fabric? For me, a train ride feels almost like stepping back in time - and not just any time, but a magical, fairy-tale time. (Yes, you might be picturing me wearing my sparkly tutu and gazing wistfully out the window while I hum a dreamy waltz in my head. Guilty as charged!).
So, my fellow tutu lovers, let me tell you all about my fabulous journey! The first stop on my pink-tutu pilgrimage was a little cafe by the train station - I had a steaming hot chocolate topped with fluffy whipped cream (a girl needs her sugar!). I had a little picnic in the local park (let's face it, picnics are way more glamorous than eating on the go!), before making my way to the ballet festival.
It was, of course, a delight! Imagine - a whole day dedicated to all things dance. From enchanting performances to inspiring workshops and even a fab little market selling adorable pink tutu-themed accessories.
Now, let me tell you about this particular tutu-tastic performance that really stole the show. A group of children were performing a choreographed ballet, and they were dressed in these beautifully flowing pastel-coloured tutus (think cotton candy clouds come to life!), twirling and leaping like graceful butterflies. It was truly awe-inspiring, it even brought a tear to my eye - there's nothing quite like witnessing pure, joyful artistry!
And did I mention I got to have a little dance lesson in a lovely studio in Newbury?! I was ecstatic. This particular class taught a ballet-street fusion – imagine a classic ballet step followed by a snazzy hip-hop move! 🤸♀️ The combination was positively divine! Of course, I rocked my favourite sparkly pink tutu for the occasion - who could resist the chance to show off their finest attire when surrounded by such talented individuals? (It was also, let's be honest, the perfect excuse to strut my stuff!)
There was also a captivating theatrical performance – full of colourful costumes, impressive vocals, and truly spectacular dancing. 💃 It reminded me that the power of the performing arts, the magic it creates, truly knows no bounds. And you know me, a bit of magic in a tutu? That's practically my lifeblood!
I even treated myself to a few treats, buying a few new sparkly pink headbands at a cute shop and I couldn’t resist picking up some gorgeously pastel-coloured cupcakes for afternoon tea - perfect to enjoy with a delicious cup of tea as I reflected on a wonderful day!
As the day drew to a close, it was time to bid farewell to Newbury. But of course, no good journey is ever complete without a few final reflections! I discovered that Newbury holds a hidden magic within its walls. It’s not only the beauty of the historic architecture or its captivating history, but also the sheer delight of experiencing its bustling energy.
