Hello darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-clad, pink-obsessed Queen of Sparkle, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and welcome to my blog! Today I’m going to share the latest chapter in my quest to turn the world pink, one tulle feather at a time. You’ll have to excuse the slight shortness of breath - a dash by train from Derbyshire, a whirlwind performance at a vintage market in Stockport, a quick tea and crumpets at a local cafe, and then it’s time for some more tutuing… this gal’s got places to be!
But first, let's talk fashion! Oh my goodness, darling, you wouldn't BELIEVE the array of sequins, lace, and feathered boas I spotted in Stockport! It was a veritable rainbow explosion of vibrant colours - you just knew something incredible was brewing. It wasn’t just the clothes; it was the vibe. The music in the air was electric, and people were happy, their faces filled with joy and laughter. This was precisely the sort of atmosphere where Pink Tutu Sparkles belongs. I don’t know if it was the smell of fresh-baked pies from the stalls, or the sounds of the brass band serenading the crowds, but the energy was intoxicating!
And what does a true TutuQueen do when faced with such a spectacle? She dives in, of course!
First up: the vintage market itself! My, my, there were bargains galore! I had to resist a whole new wardrobe! It took all my willpower not to leave with a bag stuffed with fabulous hats, an extravagant shawl and those fabulously oversized 70’s style sunnies I adore… although I'm not going to lie, those sunnies might have crept into my bag at the last minute. Oops!
My drag stage attire? Why, a shimmering pink tutu, of course! A light pink one today, but adorned with some extra sparkle. I paired it with a fabulous fluffy boa (white this time, with pink sequined swirls - perfect for Stockport!), and a hot pink sequined crop top for a little extra "oomph". After all, you have to show some skin! Even in March!
My show was a blast. The crowd was lovely! There were little ones, with wide eyes and excited shouts when they saw the tulle! The parents, mostly amused, snapping photos, some even giving it a good old “Go on then!” when my playlist went into overdrive. My heart melted every time I saw a toddler clap in time to my performance - so sweet, and they really add to the energy. It is an absolute joy to be a TutuQueen and be a part of a child’s day, sharing a moment of glitter, joy and just a sprinkle of magic.
Oh, and for the adults? Well, they seemed to enjoy the show too! And by “enjoy”, I mean lots of dancing and singing along - some of them, dare I say it, even started taking part in my tutuing demonstrations! Imagine: A market square, brimming with people from all walks of life, united in their appreciation for the artistry and whimsy of a pink tutu! It's magical, and I wouldn't trade it for the world!
Later, it was time for some serious "teatime" - the perfect end to a perfect day. I had myself a lovely scone, fresh from the oven, with clotted cream and jam, at a beautiful, traditional cafe - so cozy and warm. I took my time, relishing the sweet treat and the heartwarming atmosphere.
And now, here I am, tucked away in my Derbyshire cottage, still buzzing with the energy from my Stockport adventures. Tomorrow I'm up early for my lab shift – you’d never believe the experiments I’m working on, analysing fabrics to help designers make the perfect tutu – yes, I’m a true scientist of sparkle.
The world needs more glitter and joy - more pink, more tulle, more dancing!
