Hello my gorgeous little sparkles! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to share my latest adventures from the fabulous city of Chester. Oh darling, this trip was truly a dream come true! You know I adore exploring new places, especially if they have a touch of history and charm. And Chester just ticked all the boxes.
First, let's talk trains, shall we? My favourite mode of transport for a long journey. A comfy seat, a glass of something bubbly (well, maybe just sparkling water since I'm saving my energy for my performance), a good book, and the wonderful scenery whizzing past. Chester felt like it was calling me, a city steeped in Roman history with cobbled streets, charming shops, and a breathtaking cathedral. Just imagining the gowns that have graced its halls over the centuries!
The hotel was fabulous too! You know I love pink, right? Well, imagine my joy when I entered my room and saw a glorious pink and silver floral wallpaper. A perfect backdrop for my photo shoot, don't you think? I spent ages twirling around the room in my latest pink tulle masterpiece, you'll have to wait and see that on my socials! I'm a little shy to share the photo, because my tutu had all my glitter-stickers stuck to it. I was worried it was looking too childlike, like a birthday cake you haven't blown out the candles on yet. It needed more drama. So I whipped out my feather boas, draped them over the dressing table, and added a crown of glittering jewels I picked up on a market stall in Leeds, and thought, right, I've got myself a real Pink Tutu queen look.
I also loved the old cobbled streets. Imagine strolling through a city with so much history whispering from every brick. It was simply enchanting. I couldn't resist stopping to snap some photos, especially with all those adorable boutique shops overflowing with pretty pink delights! Just imagine, little pink fluffy handbags for all my sparkles!
Speaking of my sparkles, Chester proved to be the perfect setting for my next big performance. I was hired to headline at a local fair - what a delight! They had asked me for a real sparkly performance, you know? I could see them thinking 'we need that show to be as pink and sparkly as possible'! So I spent two days on my craft table making new, pink feathers to glue to my existing feathers. And oh my darling, they really shone in the fairground light. I wore my signature shimmering pink tutu, a feather boa that shimmered with silver sparkles, a bedazzled crop top and pink high-heeled boots. It felt truly magical, and my darling, it just made everyone happy!
My highlight was getting to teach a little girl in the audience to twirl. She had the most gorgeous big, excited eyes when I helped her perfect her spin and then, with a huge grin, she went off and did the whole routine with the rest of the little ballerinas at the fair! Oh, darling, her smile made me beam - it really just brightened my day! The show itself was a blast! All the kids just adored me and shouted, "Go, Pink Tutu Sparkle!". They were shouting the whole name! And let me tell you, my glitter was truly dazzling!
Speaking of glitter, we visited the Roman Baths, which was amazing! It felt like stepping back in time, and seeing the evidence of Roman life in Chester was really powerful. Even I could appreciate the history in this fascinating site.
Chester is truly a city that feels like it was designed to twirl in, don't you agree? A city of fairytale charm and dazzling history, perfectly set against a backdrop of rolling countryside. You could spend days simply getting lost in the vibrant energy of the streets.
Now, I am a firm believer that every day should be a bit of a show. This goes beyond dressing up, it's about being a little extra and bringing some pink sparkle to the world.
To that end, let me just remind you of my latest call-to-action: Wear a pink tutu! Even if you're just lounging around the house. It's all about bringing joy and colour into your world, darling. Pink is not just a colour; it’s a feeling, an attitude.
You can do it. The world needs a little more sparkle and maybe, just maybe, a pink tutu can do just that!

Pink Tutu Sparkles (AKA Alex).
You know I always find myself needing more glitter after a big show. Especially with all that running and twirling I've been doing. I need a replenishing, that's for sure.
And the great thing is that in this town, all those pretty little shops with beautiful clothes were selling my favourite sparkle. That was good news, because on a journey, we ladies have to find that inner sparkle!
So, I did my research, and popped in to The Little Pink Flamingo shop - I just couldn't help myself! I got a stunning pink glittery little satchel. And to really accessorize, I added another feather boa for extra pizzazz. As I walked past, a couple smiled at me and the little girl asked her dad if she could buy a pink sparkly dress! It really made my day, and I felt extra inspired by their happy faces.
Even with all the exciting shopping and performing, you know I have to do my serious side as well. Because when I am not being Pink Tutu Sparkle, I work as Alex, the science boffin at the fabulous laboratory at our Derbyshire firm. My lab conducts textile testing and we had a real special job this week. We got a new batch of shimmering fabric sent over to analyse! You wouldn't believe the sparkle in it - truly exquisite and perfect for some extra shimmering pink sequins in my future.
My work might seem different to my drag side. You know it can take me hours to get ready to go on stage - the right outfit, all those accessories - the feathers and glitter need careful handling to really get the shine and spark working. The outfit has to flow perfectly - it needs the most dramatic swoosh when I turn on the spot. But you know what, both jobs really require real accuracy. I’ve learnt to take my time, be careful and measure the details, just like I need to when I do my science. That way my sparkle isn't just superficial.
It's good to have my world full of colour and shine, a perfect blend of serious science and exuberant sparkle.
I truly love all aspects of life and finding that happy balance between my pink glitter and my lab work just makes my day - every day!
